Some students get a lot of support with all this, and are already doing a lot of this. But many don't and feel very stuck. I've spoken to a lot of students who just don't know what to do other than postdoc/teaching and don't like either option.

Also, job hunting can be a horrid experience no matter whether you decide to stay in universities or move to anything else. But keep going. Things can change very quickly after a long period of nothing happening.

Working with a great team to try to rebuild a cohort after covid decimated it, and improve skills, knowledge and confidence in 3 days is a big ask. I can't believe it worked so well. I guess the students agree with me, because they made me a "superoo" hero outfit at the end. 2/3
