As I’ve said, the Giants cannot continue to overpay free agents while refusing to pay their own in house talent.
They need to make the players and leaders in the locker room feel valued. This has been a problem for years.

The #Giants’ situation with All-Pro DT Dexter Lawrence is not in a good place and has not been for a while. While money is a big part of it, another element is that Lawrence has seen many players leave the organization over the years. He’s stayed quiet, been a good soldier, and tried to be a team guy. So when it became clear last year that he had outplayed his contract and it was time for a new deal, the organization not taking it so seriously felt like a slap in the face. ESPN sources: Giants All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade and he will not be participating in the team’s off-season workout program that opens Tuesday.
Lawrence and the Giants have been through two off seasons attempting to negotiate a contract reflecting his value to the Giants over the last three years, but there has not been any progress, per sources.

I promise you almost anyone is better than Shane Bowen. Tennessee’s talent on defense isn’t nearly as good as the Giants defense. Also Titans fans are praising him for his time in Tennessee. I think this will end up as a great hire for the Giants.

I was told at the beginning of this process that if there were problems Joe would be out the door.
As the process went on I heard good things about the relationship and how it’s going.
