Ras Laffan hit hard
Damage to Qatar’s Ras Laffan complex is now emerging as a far more consequential shock to the global LNG market than an ordinary short term outage. With 2 (out of 14) liquefaction trains severely hit by Iranian missile strikes and potentially offline for several years, the world’s largest #LNG export facility faces a lasting reduction in output. This expected to tighten supply across both Europe and Asia, raise competition for replacement cargoes and complicate efforts to rebuild gas and LNG inventories during this summer. For energy markets, the disruption signals not only firmer prices, but a more fragile supply outlook well into 2027.
