Can we say the Lions failed in free agency this year?

The Lions did not even get max restructuring value from the Goff contract. Then they could have restructured Sewell, St. Brown, and Joseph to name a few and if they chose too the Lions would have top 5 cap space to sign their own amongst making other moves that would have placed them into a far better spot to compete for a Super Bowl before this window slams shut as it will quickly. Freeing this space could have landed the Lions Offensive Line, Defensive line, Edge help beyond the bargain bin, clearance, blue light K-Mart specials they decided to shop for this off season. Holmes = Great Scout Evaluator, below standard GM. As teams need to grow on the field the front office executives also need to grow in their positions. Holmes has not shown that growth.

@Kraw375 @971theticketxyt there never was enough cap space to do anything given the extensions already done and planned. Even restructuring Goff didn't free up enough because they need a reserve of 25-30 million to sign draft picks and for the season moves.
