In 2014, I read an interview where @ava discussed directed SELMA. She was the first black woman director I'd ever seen. I didn't even think about black women directing movies. This fall, I'll be attending film school at NYU. Representation matters.

I liked the #Oscars inclusivity package but I wish they had mentioned that people of colour and white women have ALWAYS made films. Great ones too. Just because the academy is racist and sexist and won't acknowledge them it doesn't mean they don't exist.
