@KyleCryptoLand That's the point. I have a larger portfolio now, and my trading style doesn't scale. On top of that, the market has shifted to be more competitive than it used to be.

I'm sick of losing money trying to trade lower timeframes, so I made myself a checklist. This should filter out pretty much all the shitty trades I tend to take. Might be a while before the next one, but at least the path forward is clear.

@DidItMyWayYT @jondelarroz So you WANT Simon Tolkien to sell the rights to the Silmarillion to the highest bidder who will likely bastardize it beyond recognizability?

@tsarnikolas2 @BitPaine You honestly don’t see a reason for empathy for those exceptional Black individuals who did earn their place on merit but will now spend years if not decades having to re-prove themselves?

Since this is blowing up, I’m going to expand and clarify: this is by no means a post about race per se, and I will insta-block anyone who makes a racial slur or says something hateful: this is an observation about politics and culture. No one has been hurt by DEI more than exceptional, conservative blacks, who now have to face undeserved skepticism and hate for their accomplishments because of racial preferences insisted upon by Democrats desperate to secure votes by racial patronage. (Sidebar: This should go without saying, but there are many exceptional American blacks. You may not like his politics, but Obama was indeed a generationally talented speaker and politician. An additional irony to note is that some of the most genuinely exceptional blacks have been excluded from the popular discourse or been made pariahs (think Thomas Sowell, Colin Powell, and Clarence Thomas) because they were unwilling to kiss the ring of Marxist grievance-baiting and leftist political activism.) But back to the point of the post, which is merely to point out that there was a certain amount of black cultural cachet that had been built up over decades of overcoming actual oppression through genuine excellence - and in developing a counterculture that was unique and in some ways superior to the mainstream culture. But black cultural cachet was a golden goose that Democrats couldn’t help but slay. The mainstreaming and politicization of black culture, the elevation of minor talents, and the insistence on HR-coded grievance politics have turned cool into cringe. Cool, of course, is effortless. When something is shoved in your face and you are forced into mandatory praise, it’s never cool. The reason the Black Snape meme highlights that for me is that Black culture used to be cool-coded. But the memes are, by their nature, ridiculing Black culture, and jokes only land when they reflect reality - even more so when that reality is considered subversive. Jokes like this would have fallen utterly flat in the 2000s. And that means that black culture is no longer cool. Snape is cool. Black Snape is cringe. Black Snape is black guy trying to be cool by acting like a white guy. Reality is inverted. The golden goose is dead. To close, I will say, there are racists on X and in my replies, but the vast majority of people making or laughing at Black Snape memes are not racists. They are people tired of being told that they are racist. They are tired of being made to pretend that Blacks face any real oppression in modern America that isn’t of their own doing. They are tired of blacks playing by a separate set of rules and a lower set of standards from everyone else. They are tired of being discriminated against in college admissions and hiring. They are tired of unsafe cities, repeat offenders, and fentanyl zombies on the subway. They want safe streets, fair and equal standards, and an effective and sensible criminal justice system. They want, in short, a world where race doesn’t matter at all. They don’t hate blacks. They don’t see or care about race at all. But they’re being made to. And one of the ways they’re being made to is by being forced to say and to think, “I guess Snape is black now.” The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. Black Snape was their final, most essential command. But here we heave racist memes into sanctuaries and go roistering down the digital highways of the world, proving to all men that doubt, after all, was safe - that the lady in HR was finite in her power and hence a fraud. One banger meme is worth ten thousand racial sensitivity trainings. It is not only more effective; it is also vastly more intelligent.
Bit Paine ⚡️@BitPaine

Seeing the (incredible) Black Snape memes all over the timeline, I can’t help but marvel at the amount of cultural cachet the Black community has lost in the last decade due to DEI. Think back 15-20 years. It was fucking cool to be Black. Black music and culture were dominant in America. Obama was a rockstar. There was also a certain amount of deference when it came to sensitive issues like iq and affirmative action. Everyone knew what was going on, but there was a sort of gentleman’s agreement that the power brokers wouldn’t take it too far, and people wouldn’t object too hard. Those who didn’t abide were called racist and ostracized. But then came the clown shit of the last decade. We all had to pretend a degenerate criminal who died of a drug overdose while resisting arrest was some kind of civil rights martyr. We had to pretend that it was entirely okay to riot in the streets for the epidemic of cop-on-Black violence in violation of all the (idiotic) rules we agreed to follow for the actual epidemic, which apparently were secondary considerations to leftist racial politics. We watched DEI shift into overdrive and all but eliminate top-tier college admissions and hiring for any insufficiently melanated young person, often with +2 SD on the person getting the role. To wit: We watched the poster children for racial preference, Ketanji Brown and Kamala Harris (neither of whom can string coherent thoughts together but nevertheless persisted themselves into some of the highest offices in the country), and the chattering classes clapping like seals and censoring anyone who dared point out the Empresses had no iq points. Clowning on Blacks just wasn’t something you could do in popular culture 15 years ago. It made you look insecure, racist - punching down. People wouldn’t laugh. They’d sneer. But now? Smoke alarm chirps, iq jokes, gangster larping, affirmative action - it’s all on the table. Leftists will still cry about it, but making fun of any of the less savory characteristics associated with being Black in America is being mainstreamed at a rate that was simply unthinkable 15-20 years ago, when Black culture and identity were ascendant. Because 15 years ago, Black culture was the counterculture. Blacks who rose to prominence were exceptional. But now it’s mainstream, manufactured and shoved down our throats even when it’s bad. Think Halle Berry vs Zendaya. You didn’t have to be told Halle Berry was a stunner, you just had to open your eyes. Nobody had to insist upon Halle Berry. Talk about overplaying your hand. It’s just not cool to be Black anymore. It’s cringe.

@DidItMyWayYT @jondelarroz This is the most non sensical answer I’ve heard. While I agree Simon has his flaws the reason none of the tales from the Silmarillion are being adapted is because the Estate won’t sell those rights.

it's partly to do with the guy currently in charge of the Tolkien estate. Simon Tolkien is a piece of shit who doesn't deserve the name. He's one of those "modern audience" people who thinks the works of J.R.R. need to change. He shouldn't be in charge of that estate, what he's done to it is beyond repair.

@Crypt_Obi @CryptoParadyme So tell me where what I said was wrong It is not possible that Democrats get 67 seats in the Senate. It is also not possible that enough Republicans will vote to oust Trump He will be impeached but not removed from office

@DannyShireyPGH at this point missing the playoffs would be extremely disappointing It would be understandable if the team is forced to again play a stretch without Sid/Geno but would still be HUGELY disappointing to not get to experience the playoffs and at the same time draft like 15th OA

I’m worried the Penguins’ top guys being banged up might prevent them from doing much in the postseason but this season has been much more entertaining than anyone could’ve reasonably expected. Hard to be super disappointed with any outcome from here

@KyleCryptoLand I think they can make some necessary moves to truly contend. I don't think they're that far off right now. Add an impact dman and another middle-six forward this offseason via the trade/RFA market, and they should be in decent shape next season.

Many say that the Penguins don't have enough higher-ceiling young talent. Kindel is going to a legitimate top-six star center. They may have landed a star top-six winger in Chinakhov. They have Murashov and, maybe, D'Aigle. And Brunicke. And Horcoff. And Zonnon. Not half-bad.

When the Karlsson trade was made I wasn’t enthusiastic about it. Two years playing under Sullivan convinced me I was right. Now I’m sure the problem wasn’t Karlsson and 2 years were wasted because he was being used incorrectly and it was criminal.

@kelsey_surmacz4 My counter is it’s already unusual for an elite player to reach FA- the rising cap will mean even more teams can keep their studs And my concern when Sid retires is the young core we have will be “too good” to get a high draft slot but not good enough to truly contend

@KyleCryptoLand But with the cap going up and the assets they had t, they don't necessarily *need* to acquire talent that way. There will probably be a couple down years after Crosby retires, and that's when they can get the high-end talent in the draft with a good foundation already in place.

@KyleCryptoLand Look at it from an NFL perspective. What plays create the most controversy on replay? It's anything involving possession or a football move. It's never "did he get two feet down in bounds?" It's why they gave up on PI reviews. It was maddening inconsistency.

This is a quick one just because I had to shit out some thoughts on it, but we have lost the plot with replay review in sports. Judgement calls shouldn't be up for review, because you will never, ever be able to maintain a set standard on that. adamgretz.substack.com/p/we-have-lost…

@Kneckt @MikeBartner @R1nkR4t Pointing out that *some* of Mack’s insane stretch during the first 2/3 of the season was puck luck means one is a hater? I think Mack is the best young player in hockey. I can also think he had some insane puck luck early this season. The two are not mutually exclusive

@Jeffs_Penguins I think it’s really hard projecting Kindels ceiling His hockey IQ is obviously elite The question is as he matures how much further do his raw physical gifts develop That is what will determine whether he is an elite two way 2C or can become a legit stud 1C

Definitely possibly that he only Tops out as a #2 Center & that would be great. IMHO, he will end up as a better type, R. Thomas / N. Suzuki / B. Point type 1C. With Kindel's Elite Hockey Brain at just 18, when he grows into his body @ 23-25, he will be a Top 10 #1 C in the NHL
Mark Madden@MarkMaddenX

Ben Kindel will probably top out at 72-75 points someday. He'll be a real good No. 2 center. But he will make a series of plays that win games. Stuff you remember. He's a winning hockey player. He plays winning hockey.
