His leg and bone was deeply infected and gangrene inside. This was him after the operation. I got to sit with him for an hour and see him open his eyes again. He just came to us too late unfortunately. Starting to see how hard it is for vets. They were so excited to have worked as a team for 5-6 hours and thought it was looking good and then he was lost. Very tough mentally for them as they are hands on. I only see it at a distance. Huge new respect for medical teams in general after seeing the start of our hospital.

RIP little Nugget. His operation took 6 hours and he made it through. But 2 hour later his little body gave up as we feared it might. We help a lot of dogs but it still broke us all to lose this little gentleman yesterday. 💔

Nugget is a very good boy. I’d normally wait to see how it panned out before sharing as I prefer to focus on the happy stuff. Keeping everything crossed for the little guy as would like to get to know him 🙏 (6/6)

I’m normally very cautious about sharing dogs who might have a bad outcome but after thinking long and hard I wanted to share Nugget. He has a big operation tomorrow and his life hangs in the balance… (1/6) 🧵

I'm supposed to be running a Marathon in 4 days for the dogs... 🥰 Had to bring Stormzy out for some motivation ✈️ Jet lag and fatigue has hit after round the world trip in 5 days 🐕 A tonne of worrying dog situations as always 🛏️ I went for a 30 minute nap at 2pm today and woke at 10pm with feverish dreams. If I had to run even 5km today it would be impossible. So tired and sore and no training in 2 days. Not hopeful it can be done but lets hope tomorrow is better.

We lost Maria. Her little heart just gave up in the end after a 2nd operation. It's very tough losing dogs but the only comfort I can take is they know love and have dignity when they come to us. RIP lovely little Maria ❤️

@NiallHarbison One of my dogs was allergic to the pain medication given Rimadyl (also known as Carprofen) and it gave him similar symptoms, Vet didn’t recognise it and he sadly passed, but I think it possibly can be reversed with IV fluids, it might be worth seeing if it’s something like that.

Something changed in the night. He refused all food today. All he would do is drink huge amounts of water but he struggled to do that alone. (2/6)

It’s not been an easy day for Jimmy today. Yesterday he showed great promise and I spent last night looking into and contacting hospitals to operate on his spine. He is battling… (1/6) 🧵
