Labour & Co-op Councillor for Smethwick Ward, Fabians vice-chair. Promoted by Sandwell Labour on behalf of Luke John Davies, both of Terry Duffy House, B70 6NT.
Unfortunately today's councillor's surgery is cancelled, as the Dorothy Parkes Centre is closing at 5pm and we don't have access to the building.
My next surgery is Monday 20th January at 5pm at Thimblemill Library. I am also available via email Luke_Davies@sandwell.gov.uk.
Very sorry to hear of President Carter’s passing. I pay tribute to his decades of selfless public service.
My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
Unfortunately due to illness I am having to cancel this evening's councillor surgery at Thimblemill Library. Residents can still reach me on Luke_Davies@sandwell.gov.uk or via 07974 879 379 as usual.
Apologies for any inconvenience.
And not only Ukraine. Georgia and Moldova too. And much of the Western Balkans. They might not be shooting wars but they are conflicts for democracy against Putin's Russia just the same, especially in terms of disinformation and destabilisation.
The UK immediately needs to:
- Increase defence spending rapidly (rather than shrinking its army)
- Focus its military strategy on deterring Russian aggression in Europe (rather than confronting ‘global threats’)
- Work with European allies to defend Europe under a NATO that doesn’t have US support (rather than assuming that America guarantees European security).
Anything less would be a government dereliction of duty.
A sharp refocus on defence is now coming. UK will need to quickly raise defence spending. In tandem with our European allies (and there are issues there regarding the will of some) and prepare to defend the boundaries of Europe.
Long overdue. When you had to go to the council house and give your name to get it was one thing, but publishing them online is too dangerous now. We deal with so much more abuse and threats than we used to.
This day way back in 2012 when I was one of a group of unemployed young people asked by the Trade Union Conference to lead the March for a Future That Works, a protest against the austerity regime who's horrific effects we are still seeing.
Apparently the Member for Mar-a-Lago thinks that British political figures being active in the United States is election interference.
Maybe that means he might turn up to the House of Commons sometime!
Or even Clacton.
Bemused at people stressing about Tuchel being German, given there was literally zero chat about having to have an English manager when former Republic of Ireland player Lee Carsley was the hot favourite.
