Current rotation has been so traumatic that I started running to blow off steam. I am now a running person. I even bought earbuds & a belt thingy to put my phone in. I’m a monster.

Lost this legend 7 years ago today. I talk about or quote this man almost every day. Beyond the logo on our coats & jackets, beyond the boots at the end of every bed in every trauma room, this man left a legacy that is a part of every faculty, trainee, & alumnus of this program

@smstreit Motorized wheelchair for prior spine injury + alcohol + escalator = poor life choice for patient.

Happy to see so many fellow 4:15-5ers! I’m not alone! ❤️ I wake up ~1 hour before I have to leave, 1.5 if I’m eating at home before I leave (often take a smoothie or something that I can eat during conference/clinic/chart review time, depending on the day).

@RodGerardo I draw the line at traumatology, personally. Otherwise we’ll soon be calling ourself cholecystologists (although that is what I called myself on our night float rotation, a.k.a. 6-week gallbladder fest).

Ok so this doesn’t work for everything. Yes for surgical oncology, or even surgical endocrinology. But like what about vascularology? Minimally Invasivology? Where do we draw the line?

Hey, academic #Trauma surgeons: how many of you call or consider yourself a “professor of traumatology”? (Or associate or assistant professor) I just read this phrase and was like…🤔

Residency teaches you impt things, like how to sleep literally anywhere. In 1 month’s time (as an attending 😂) I slept in a salon chair, a hair sink chair, on the physical therapy table, sitting in an office chair, & in my Jeep. Where’s the weirdest spot you’ve napped?

@Dallas_Holladay Our school took graduation photos at the beginning of fourth year. The photos were used for applications and for our yearbook.

Should I be saving/printing ultrasound images when doing non-emergent central lines (or ports)? I have never once saved it (not sure if our older machines that I learned how to do lines with even had printing capability). Do others do this routinely?

My gallbladder fellowship is going pretty well so far. Last night did a completely intrahepatic one.
