Wrapping up the week by recognizing the people who keep New York moving. We marked Transit Worker Appreciation Day this week by getting a closer look at the work — and saying thank you. Because it’s not just March 18. It’s every day.

The Iranian regime executed a 19 year old for demanding democracy. I stand with his memory and the thousands of other young Iranians. Those who grieve the elimination of Iranian leaders over murdered protesters is telling.

Today, in Iran, in the middle of a war, the regime executed a 19-year-old national wrestling champion for the crime of joining January protests. 💔 After signaling to the world, including President @realDonaldTrump, that they would halt executions of protesters, the regime has done the exact opposite. Three young protesters, Saleh Mohammadi, Mehdi Ghasemi, and Saeed Davoudi, were hanged in Qom after a sham trial. Reports indicate torture. Forced confessions. No access to chosen lawyers. Closed-door proceedings. No right to appeal. I call on @GlobalAthleteHQ to stand with Iranian athletes who are being silenced, imprisoned, and executed simply for raising their voices. This is not just about sports. This is about human dignity.

Unsung heroes are the people who do the work, take the risks, or show the courage that truly matters, yet receive little or none of the recognition they deserve. This is Police Officer Grant Pulgarin. He wasn't honored for this heroic apprehension. Share this post.

This should have been on the front page of The New York Times. I speak to students in America and most have no idea that more than 30,000 Iranians were killed for protesting and demanding freedom. No names. No faces. No coverage. This silence kills me.💔 Thank you, Australia.

Madison Square Garden is launching a “Thank you, NYPD” campaign to support NYPD employees and their families. James Dolan, executive chairman & CEO of MSG Entertainment: “There are times in our culture today when the dissenter’s voice is louder than that of the majority. Such is the case with law enforcement, and in particular, the NYPD. Cries of ‘defund the police’ and other negative statements do not reflect the true feelings of New Yorkers. If that is what our cops are hearing and no one steps up to say otherwise, that can be disheartening. This concert to say, ‘Thank You, NYPD’ is designed to let our police know that we New Yorkers need, respect and appreciate their effort and service. It is not political. Just a sincere ‘thank you’ to our men and women in blue. New York would not be New York without you! Enjoy the show and know that we appreciate you.”

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

BREAKING Israel says it has killed Ali Larijani, the de facto leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Gholamreza Soleimani, the head of the Basij, the infamous paramilitary force that the regime uses to suppress protests and control civilians. In January, Larijani was said to have overseen the crackdown on protesters that resulted in many thousands of Iranians being killed in the streets by the regime and many more being imprisoned. Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks. I am grateful to have an outstanding team of doctors who detected the cancer early and are guiding my care, and I am encouraged by a very good prognosis. I am also deeply thankful for the support and encouragement of President Trump as I undergo treatment and continue serving in my role as White House Chief of Staff.

New York City, meet the hero cops who apprehended two individuals charged with ISIS-inspired terrorism last week. Our entire city owes these officers a debt of gratitude. They are a reminder that the safety and security of New York City rests on the judgment and courage of the men and women of the NYPD. On Saturday, March 7, that was on full display. When two IEDs were ignited in the middle of a crowded protest, these officers didn’t step back. They stepped forward without hesitation and without regard for their own safety. They acted on instinct and training to protect people they did not know and would likely never meet. Moments like that remind us what policing truly requires.

Among the many arrests occurring in Iran: a mom and her 15-year-old son. The charge? Celebrating the death of the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei — which authorities say constitutes insulting the Supreme Leader (even though he is dead). Insulting the Supreme Leader is a crime under the Islamic Republic. Their names, per HRANA, are Ameneh Ghasemzadeh and Aryo Moshrefi. Ameneh was arrested at work, and her son was arrested at their home. On its own, this charge usually carries a sentence of six months to two years in prison, but it’s rare that this charge stands alone. Usually authorities pile on a bunch of other charges, leading to much longer and harsher sentences, and sometimes execution.
