Dit is echt een must read. Google voelt zich bedreigd door de open source LLM community. De open source gemeenschap kreeg in maart door een lek onverwacht toegang tot Meta's LLaMA taalmodel, wat leidde tot een golf van innovatie. Binnen korte tijd bouwde de open source community een fatsoenlijke concurrent van ChatGPT. Nog niet zo goed, maar een flinke stap op weg. Open-source modellen zijn sneller, kunnen sneller worden aangepast, ze zijn privacyvriendelijker en goedkoper.

In dit artikel wordt ook de link gelegd met Stable Diffusion, de open source image generator. Die bloeit ook dankzij de open source community. Meta lijkt goede kaarten in handen te hebben in de concurrentiestrijd, omdat zij kunnen voortborduren op wat de open source community maakt.

AutoGPT is a hype on Twitter and Github. It is a new prototype in the world of autonomous AI agents. Let me explain in short:
The basic premise of #AutoGPT is simple: you give it a name, a role, and some goals, and it tries to accomplish those goals on its own. AutoGPT operates without human intervention after it is set up.
The AI has internet access and is connected to Google via the search API, which allows it to access a vast amount of information. In addition, it is connected to Pinecone, which gives it long-term memory of a sort. AutoGPT can read websites and break information into chunks if it is too long.
As you can see, the current top trending repositories on GitHub are all self-prompting AI systems. These systems are able to tell themselves what to do next without any prompting from the user. This is a step towards autonomous AI systems and a sign of the direction in which technology is headed. (!)
However, as with any new technology, AutoGPT has its challenges. The AI is prone to distraction and confusion, but this is to be expected given that the system is only a week old.

De samenleving als “proeftuin” voor ontwikkelingen op het gebied van kunstmatige intelligentie. Technologiebedrijven zijn bezig aan een onderlinge wedstrijd in hoog tempo.
Gaan deze ontwikkelingen niet te snel? Kan ‘de mens’ het nog bijbenen? Is het voor iedereen nog te snappen? Gaat dit in de digitale kloof nog meer doen laten toenemen? De verdeling tussen ‘have’ en ‘have-nots’? Moeten we niet veel meer morele, ethische vragen stellen? En juridische kaders?
We zitten in een achtbaan van technologische (AI) ontwikkelingen. En bij een achtbaan weet je het: we gaan razendsnel en niemand heeft het stuur in handen. Zo voelt het soms.
Ik probeer regelmatig kritische en ethische vragen te stellen over de nieuwe ontwikkelingen op het gebied van technologie. Erg noodzakelijk. Het gaat allemaal erg snel en de impact is groot.
