On #WorldHealthDay, #Luxembourg 🇱🇺 highlights the value of science in global health. Through its #WHO Collaborating Centre on measles&rubella, 🇱🇺 supports research, surveillance, training&evidence-based policies to strengthen health systems & advance disease elimination globally.

We thank the Core Group for the presentation of the resolution. With only 4 years until 2030, this resolution comes at an important moment where we need to collectively accelerate progress to achieve the 2030 Agenda and to implement the SDGs. #HRC61

#HRC61 | #KingdomNL, on behalf of the BENELUX 🇧🇪🇳🇱🇱🇺, raised Russia’s attempt to structurally dismantle Ukrainian systems of governance, administration, judiciary, law enforcement and education, imposing its own systems. We urge again: Russia’s war of aggression must end.

At #HRC61 ID with the COI on #Syria: #Luxembourg 🇱🇺 is concerned by serious IHL & human rights violations across the country. Violence targeting minorities in #Sweida and the northeast shows the fragile transition. The COI’s work is essential for truth, justice & accountability.

At #HRC61 ID with the COI on #Ukraine: #Luxembourg 🇱🇺 is deeply concerned by reported deportations & forced transfers of 🇺🇦 children. The COI also documents other grave IHL violations, including torture, enforced disappearances & acts of SGBV. Accountability is essential.

At #HRC61 ID with the SRSG on violence against children, Luxembourg’s 🇱🇺 UN Youth Delegates raise concern over rising cyberbullying and online abuse affecting children’s well-being and education. They also stress the risks posed by new technologies, including AI.

At the #HRC61 annual panel on the rights of the child, 🇱🇺 Luxembourg’s UN Youth Delegates shared young people’s concerns about children affected by conflict and displacement. They stressed the need to protect migrant & unaccompanied minors and uphold children’s rights everywhere.

At #HRC61 ID with the SR on the rights of persons with disabilities, #Luxembourg🇱🇺 stresses that stigma, discriminatory legal restrictions and lack of accessibility still limit participation. States must ensure equal participation, incl. voting, decision-making and holding office

At #HRC61 panel on financing for sustainable development & #ESCR, #Luxembourg 🇱🇺 stresses that inclusive finance is key to eradicate poverty and promote decent work. 🇱🇺 contributes through initiatives such as the Luxembourg Green Exchange and a sovereign sustainability bond.

At #HRC61 ID w/ SR on Torture, the #Benelux countries 🇧🇪🇳🇱🇱🇺 stress that torture remains widespread and leaves lifelong physical & mental scars. We welcome the Charter of the Rights of Victims & Survivors and urge States to prevent, investigate, prosecute and ensure redress.

#HRC61 | Benelux countries 🇧🇪🇳🇱 🇱🇺 expressed deep concern over ongoing human rights and int. humanitarian law violations in Myanmar, mainly affecting Rohingya and other minorities. Millions suffer from humanitarian needs, while funding and humanitarian access are constrained.

#HRC61 | Benelux countries remain gravely concerned about the human rights situation in South Sudan. Escalating conflict, grave violations against children, sexual & gender-based violence, impunity and elite capture of public resources continue to devastate lives of civilians.

#HRC61 ID on #Sudan🇸🇩: FFM report illustrates atrocities committed in #ElFasher, incl. massacres, sexual violence, child recruitment and starvation as a weapon of war, as well as acts of genocide. #Luxembourg 🇱🇺 calls for protection of aid, a ceasefire and lasting peace.
