Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day, honoring all peace officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty. Additionally, during Police Week, May 12-18, we pay tribute to all who serve and protect us every day, and their commitment to public safety.

February intakes: 405 including 42 Domestic Violence and 33 Violations of Restraining Order.

January 2024 intakes: 424 including 69 Domestic Violence and 30 Violations of Restraining Order.

December Intakes: 391 including 51 Domestic Violence, 31 Violation of Restraining Order.

November intakes: 392 including 57 Domestic Violence and 33 Violation of Restraining Order. YTD intakes: 4,153

These are the lower level offenses that impact quality of life, and it is in the interest of making Lane County the best place to live, work and play that we appropriately intervene in criminal conduct.

Because referrals from law enforcement remain down, I don’t expect this will have a significant impact on the courts or indigent defense until filings rise or possession of drugs is recriminalized.

As my office is headed to full staffing, we are in the process of notifying all of our 11 Lane County law enforcement agencies that there is no longer a “no file” list of charges. Every case for which there is sufficient, admissible evidence will be filed starting now.

October Intake Stats: 374 total including 58 Domestic Violence, 29 Violations of Restraining Order.

Congratulations to two more treatment court graduates! The keynote speaker graduated a year ago and provided great inspiration. Both graduates told us about living their best lives, one fulfilling a promise to his mom from a prison cell in 2009 to get clean.
