Fran Lebowitz: “The thing that makes New Yorkers the angriest about Trump is other people think he’s a New Yorker. New Yorkers don’t think that, we never thought that. He never wins New York. He never even comes here because he’s so hated. He’s afraid of New York, as he should be”

So of course this SCOTUS destroyed the Voting Rights Act as expected but too late for much of their intended evisceration of minority districts this cycle. What we do now is OVERWHELMING TURNOUT for November. SLAUGHTER them at the ballot box. Get every single seat we can.

The Shallow State
The Shallow State@OurShallowState·
I'm watching Pete Hegseth testify and anyone who does so with an open mind, will readily see that he is a caricature. He has delusions that he is starring in an action movie. He is arrogant and ignorant. His narrative never has any depth. He speaks as if what's good and what's right are not even complex subjects, or debates borne of perspective. He loves American Exceptionalism but believes that it's only defined by musculature and pomposity. He couldn't care less for us being a shining example for others, or a force for a greater good. He couldn't care less for sharing strategy or being accountable. He creates lasting disdain for America on a global level like few others ever have and make no mistake - this disdain will permeate for generations. He doesn't present arguments. He doesn't share justifications. He doesn't care for transparency, and the only thing he cares less for than that, is humanity. As a behaviorist, I can feel the things he's been accused of - like alcoholism and misogyny and reckless sharing of info - underlying his attitude and every utterance, and you can feel how unapologetic he is for any of it. He is a brazen politician serving an audience of one. He is a Made for TV concoction, and a vacuous mishmash of hormones and neurotransmitters. That he's running the US Defense Dept. is incredibly dangerous and disturbing.

In the federal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the coastal authorities, who investigate seashell-related crimes; and the Department of Justice, who prosecute the offenders.

Today's Supreme Court decision reverses hard-won progress under the Voting Rights Act. It means less representation for millions of Black Americans and other voters of color, as lawmakers gain greater ability to manipulate their districts. There will be more extreme partisan gerrymandering, lopsided elections, less accountable government, and policies that hurt rather than help with everyday life. But this is no time to be demoralized, because we know it does not have to be this way. We can mobilize around reform, new laws, and where necessary, constitutional amendments for fairer government. Only then can we feel the benefits of a balanced Court, a truly representative Congress, and an election system free from the distorting power of extreme corporate and partisan manipulation.

they tracked him, observed him, a mentally ill person whose brother had informed on him the day before; they waited for him to "attempt to assassinate the US president" --(who was, in fact, on another floor & nowhere near)--firing shots wildly & one of these "friendly fire" shots striking the bullet-proof vest of one of their own; with much fanfare they tackled the mentally ill person whom they'd been tracking, charging this hapless person with "attempting to assassinate the president of the US." but all did not go perfectly on script since, in being hustled out of the ballroom upstairs, the US President had no time to raise his fist bravely crying "Fight! Fight" but tripped & fell heavily to the floor & several persons were required to lift his heft, & hoist away to safety backstage.
Paul Niland@PaulNiland

He's lying. You'd know, from officer testimonies and ammo checks, who fired, who didn't, and how many shots. Bullets don't vanish, not in that enclosed environment. The lie is because the round that hit the Secret Service guy wasn't from the gunman, who didn't get a round off.

I just spent 2 incredible weeks in Italy and it is so frustrating to come back to the U.S… How is it possible @RobertKennedyJr that the Italian food supply is so vastly superior. I literally ate bread at every meal, dessert multiple times per day, and generally ate way more than I do in the U.S. Not once did I have acid reflux. Not one headache, no digestive problems, and I didn’t gain any weight. If I ate the same way in the U.S. (I used to at times) I would have gone through a full bottle of Tums and Advil just to get through the day… WHY does the U.S. allow glyphosate in wheat, high fructose corn syrup in food and who knows what in our milk products? The difference in quality of life in Italy vs the U.S. is staggering from their common sense (anti corporate) food regulation. WHY aren’t more people upset about this? The U.S. is the richest country in the world and we eat like one of the poorest.

Today's VRA decision is intellectually dishonest and wrong. The conservatives basically said: Black people can vote for their preferred candidates, as long as they prefer the right candidates -- which will be Republicans. An absolutely mockery of the law and stain on the court.

I resigned as U.S. Ambassador Ukraine when Trump kept siding with Putin over our democratic partner. Now, my successor is doing the same. I knew I had to speak out and run for office because siding with dictators is just not who we are.
Amy Mackinnon@ak_mack

Scoop: Julie Davis, the acting US Ambassador in Kyiv, is leaving the State Department having grown frustrated with Trump's dwindling support for Ukraine. Davis's resignation follows that of her predecessor, Bridget Brink, who resigned for similar reasons early last year. W/@christopherjm  as.ft.com/r/1781e555-fad…

After a shooting, Trump was asked about violence in America. His answer? Build him a bulletproof ballroom. Not policy. Not prevention. A private bunker with better lighting. – Brags he wasn’t scared, talks about how “attractive” the agents were – Gets confronted with violent rhetoric… instantly melts down – Asked about the cause of violence… and lands here: “The ballroom is drone-proof. It’s bulletproof. We need the ballroom.” That’s the “solution.” This isn’t leadership. It’s not a plan. It’s a rich guy hiding better. When violence hits the country, he doesn’t think about fixing it. He thinks about how to seal himself off from it.

This was part of the content that CBS edited out of Trump's recent interview with '60 Minutes': "Trump: You know I’m not a king, I get it, I don’t laugh, I don’t, I, I see these No Kings which are funded just like the southern law was funded. You all that southern laws, financing the KKK and lots of other radical, terrible groups. And then they go out and they say, oh, we’ve got to stop the KKK. And yet they give them hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars. They work. It’s a total scam run by the Democrats. It shows you that, like Charlottesville, Charlottesville was all funded by the southern law. That was a southern law deal, too. And it was done to make me look bad. And it turned out to be a total fake. It basically was, a rigged election. This was a part of the rigging of the election. And that’s what you really should be doing. I mean, I hope one of your ‘60 Minute’ episodes, which really hasn’t changed very much for the last few years, I’m surprised."
