This kind of statement is deeply uninformed in 2026. Personally, I would have no problem fathering a child with an HIV‑positive woman, and I would not live in fear of whether the child or I might contract HIV. I am HIV‑negative, and so is my wife. We had a child who was born HIV‑negative but with a severe heart defect. We took him for three surgeries in India, but he passed away in 2023. If his condition had been HIV instead of a heart defect, he would be in Primary Two today. This is not 1989, when Philly Bongole Lutaya became the first Ugandan to publicly declare his HIV status. Medicine has advanced. Treatment has advanced. Prevention has advanced. The stigma should not still be where it was decades ago.
