9:20 a.m. UPDATE: All lanes of I-40 WB at MM 236 has reopened.

** TRAFFIC ALERT ** 8:00 a.m. UPDATE: The Lebanon Police Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are on the scene of a serious injury crash at MM 236.4 that has resulted in all WB lanes being blocked. WB traffic on I-40 is being diverted across the South Hartmann Drive exit and back onto I-40 WB. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Expect extended delays. ***original post*** I-40 WB at MM 236 (S. Hartmann Dr.) will be completely shut down due to a crash. Traffic is being diverted onto S. Hartmann Dr.

9:00 A.M (3/20/26) update - Good news! James has been located safely.

**MISSING PERSON** The Lebanon Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 57-year-old James Whitaker. James is missing from the area of South College Street. He was last seen around 1:30 pm today, March 19, possibly wearing black jeans, a black shirt, and a black beanie hat. James is 6’1” and approximately 225 pounds. If you have any information on the whereabouts of James Whitaker, please contact the Lebanon Police Department immediately at 615-444-2323.

** TRAFFIC ALERT ** Two NB lanes of HWY 109 at Eastgate Blvd will be shutdown due to a minor injury crash. Crews are working to clear the scene.

** TRAFFIC ALERT ** Castle Heights Ave at West Spring St will be shut down due to an injury crash.

Man wanted by the ATF arrested by Lebanon Police officers after traffic stop. Last night, a shift officer noticed a Nissan traveling on Hartsville Pike with a non-functioning taillight. During the stop, officers learned the driver, a 21-year-old from Nashville, was driving on a suspended license. Further investigation revealed the individual was wanted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) on a full extradition warrant related to a weapons charge. The individual was taken into custody without incident. We appreciate the diligent work of our officers in bringing this wanted individual into custody!

Great video by @WKRN and @KendallWKRN ahead of tonight’s City of Lebanon Council vote on a proposed one-year trial responder drone program at no cost to our citizens. This program is another way our department is leveraging technology to support our officers and firefighters as they serve the community, while also enhancing safety for first responders.

A Tornado Watch has been issued for Lebanon until 3 a.m. Stay weather aware and stay safe!

Things have escalated somewhat. The level 3 out of 5 has been dragged a little father east, but the biggest change is that the tornado risk has increased so that there is now a medium tornado threat generally west of I-65, which does include most of the Nashville Metro Area.

A strong cold front is coming at us tomorrow night. We expect a line of storms to sweep through Middle Tennessee Sunday evening into the early morning hours Monday. Damaging winds in excess of 70 mph will be possible. There is also a low-end tornado threat.
