@Lewdsamaru i just wish denji came to that realization rather than having it handed to him, and unfortunately no matter how many people tell me that they like it, it will not make me like it anymore than i do rn, and i know im not alone in that either

@succuvamps I understand, and I do sort of agree with you, you have some valid criticism; i would have prefered more plot aswell, and Fuji wasted a bit too much story right before the end, things couldve be explored better.. etc But i still think it had something to say ☺️

@Lewdsamaru i just prefer plot over torture porn, it’s my issue with berserk as well. just because it’s sad doesn’t inherently mean it’s compelling or interesting. if they’re building a sad narrative, i want it to go somewhere or mean something, but that’s just my preference

@succuvamps I mean sure, but that doesnt mean it had to; Denji had multiple choices to "quit" that and he didnt take them, he's written like that on purpose. It's a very pathetic story, the end shows that he needed to live in a completely different world to be happy, pochita did it for him

@Lewdsamaru the thing is, his addiction and hyper sexuality never got properly deconstructed. he never improved, or had any kind of real meaning in the story other than misery. that arc never went anywhere, it simply persisted.

@succuvamps I mean i guess its just preferences, I did find meaning or something interesting in part 2, even tho I acknowledge that a lot of it was just suffering Like people complain about Nayutas death not meaning anything but i think it does show the consequences of his actions

@Lewdsamaru i just don’t view media so broadly, i break down the narrative into pieces that all work towards and mean something. part 2 was just showing denji ruining his own life and then resetting it all. sure. just doesn’t mean that it was particularly compelling or interesting 🤷

@succuvamps Its a story about a boy facing guilt, trauma, addiction, and hypersexuality He had no "real" support for him that could get him out of the cycle, hence what happened at the end It's sacrificing his life as a hero to be able to just "live" without cursing others in his path

@succuvamps -not saying you do! it's just that a lot of people are viewing it like that and wanted to point it out as a factor for the general dislike -i don't think that his quote should be taken literally, imo it was just an influence -it did mean something, both part 1 & 2 1/2

@succuvamps they're both relatively good endings, just tainted in the general opinion cus people don't treat manga like art, instead like sports also weekly serialization leads to these types of endings Neither of them are "bad" endings per se, just not the best execution
