🚨 State Case Update:
Luigi's state trial is delayed from June to September, meaning that it is quite likely the federal trial will be pushed to 2027.
The hearing where Carro will rule on the suppression motions is still scheduled for May 18.

🚨BREAKING: New York State Judge delayed Luigi Mangione's state trial until September 8.
Because of this, Luigi's federal trial will have to be delayed until Dec or Jan 2027, as the Federal Judge said "Whether we like it or not, we are at the will of the state case".

Federal Judge Garnett tentatively pushed the Mangione fall trial two weeks, in order to re-arrange the voir dire process so that potential jurors aren’t influenced by press around state trial this summer

Garnett is rejigging the jury selection schedule slightly. She wants trial to start on either Oct. 26 or Nov. 2.
It's a minor delay -- the trial was initially supposed to start on Oct. 13. It's a far cry from the 2027 date the defense was seeking, though.

"I think it’s a little bit of the tail wagging the dog; I don't have any control over the state schedule."
