On the 12th of May my children's primary school sent out the usual newsletter. On page 4 a little blurb announced the following; Queer Club "..... one of our School Captains, has been working hard to begin a Queer Club at our school. Just like we have Lego Club, Lunchtime Libr y and ICT Club, Queer Club will be held during a lunchtime and with teacher supervision. The aim of Queer Club is to foster a safe environment that is supportive and inclusive of the queer community. The club will be open to Years 3-6 students who identify as LGBTQIA+ and also for allies, with the main purpose to help make our school queer friendly so that students and families feel accepted and welcome at School. The club is 100% voluntary for students who are interested in joining and will be facilitated by Supervising Teacher. (Year 6 Classroom Teacher, Student Leadership Coordinator and Year 6 Wellbeing Year Level Leader). It will be held fortnightly for first half of lunch on a Wednesday in odd weeks (for this term, weeks 5, 7, 9)." I am attaching the correspondence that transpired in this thread. The first pictures are of the initial email I sent to the Principal on behalf of concerned parents. Please note I have redacted names, and school logos and highlighted where I have redacted private information for transparency. I did attempt to reach out to many ministers for help but not one returned my calls or messages. The Education department offered no solution or mediation, which resulted with my family along with many others leaving the school with more moving at the end of the year. This is happening in schools all around Victoria. I will be speaking at the March for Kids this Saturday the 21st October being held at the Old Treasury Building at 12pm. We need to empower parents to stand up for their kids without being scared of labels and retribution.

Major wind turbine manufacturers have been hit by an asbestos scandal. At Australia's $4 billion Golden Plains wind farm, testing on turbines has come back positive. Units are now quarantined and the manufacturer, based in Denmark, is launching global checks across its supply chain. Serious environmental concerns are mounting. Wind blades can't be recycled, not economically or at scale. So tens of thousands of tons of blades are dumped every year, buried in pits with endless more coming as first-generation turbines hit their end of life (which is typically just 15 years). An industry sold as clean is leaving mountains of toxic waste that can't be recycled.

The world will have to deal with 43 million tons of decommissioned wind turbine blades by Net Zero in 2050. To put that in perspective, it’s the equivalent weight of 215,000 locomotives. These blades are made of high-strength composites designed to survive decades of brutal weather, and they are notoriously difficult to recycle. They were built to last, but they weren't built to disappear. Every turbine standing today will likely be decommissioned and replaced at least once before 2050. Without a cost-effective way to recycle fibre-reinforced polymers, the majority of these massive blades are destined for eternity - buried forever in turbine graveyards. China, Europe, and the US will account for the vast majority of this waste, creating a mountainous industrial heartache that many Net Zero models simply haven't priced in. But 43 million tons of purely composite blade waste every 20 years is a colossal physical reality.
