I think the negative sentiment around Midnight is way overblown. Midnight isn't competing with Cardano. It's a complementary partner chain that fills in the gaps in scalability and functionality. And there is not a single person in this ecosystem who can replace the role @IOHK_Charles plays. Since last year, privacy has become a major topic, and many chains have been pouring investment into privacy to secure institutional adoption and liquidity. At multiple conferences, the privacy sector has drawn the most attention. Midnight launched at exactly the right time for this moment. Personally, I was impressed by Charles's foresight. Among major ecosystems, Cardano has been behind in many areas compared to its competitors, but privacy through Midnight is the one sector where it responded the fastest. Privacy is essential for regulatory compliance, institutional participation, and real-world adoption, and Midnight clearly has a positive role to play in the Cardano ecosystem. On top of that, Cardano SPOs can participate as Midnight validators and earn additional $NIGHT rewards. The Midnight team is also building Starstream, a zero-knowledge virtual machine that enables ZK-powered smart contract execution on Cardano as an opt-in layer. So my conclusion is that Midnight isn't hurting Cardano at all. It can be a massive benefit. What matters is that Midnight was only possible because Charles was behind it from the start. Sure, some people may find him lacking or have complaints. But he still holds enormous influence in this market and has the vision and insight to guide Cardano in the right direction. From my perspective as someone active in the industry, Cardano realistically needs Charles. There is no one in this ecosystem who can replace him. Instead of pointless criticism, I believe what he deserves is respect and collaboration.

I hope my life's work will be to make or contribute to a meaningful rise in the global floor and median quality of life. I believe the best way to do this is for the world to build social institutions on top of transparent, efficient, tamper proof ledgers that reduce bureaucracy, exploitation, and waste. I believe the second best way to do this is to build up access to finance, passive income, and financial literacy for as many people as possible. That's why I'm in software. That's why I'm in crypto. That's why I'm on Cardano. And that's why I've built up Sundae Labs as the software company it is. Every day, and nearly everything I do, is geared towards this. It's why my salary is substantially lower than I could make literally anywhere else, lower than the job I left, and exactly the median salary of what my team makes. It's why my net worth (excluding the completely illiquid value of my equity in Sundae Labs) has been flat or slightly declining since I started this journey. It's why I've largely soldiered through death threats and some of the most toxic hateful bile you can imagine. But spending time on Twitter, where I've often enjoyed connecting with an audience, has become a threat to that mission. It's clear that I'm not going to solve the problems I see in the world through Twitter discourse. For a long time I thought it might help: engage in good faith to share my perspectives, break down what I know so others can understand in the hopes that it contributes to their ability to navigate the technological changes that are coming, and serve as the best example I can for effective and thoughtful discourse. But instead, especially lately, it has simply become a drain on my energy and motivation. Even if I engage less, just *reading* the way we treat each other is demoralizing. Even people who I believe have good intentions can't help but contribute to a storm of negativity that is fighting to sweep us out to sea. There is a mob that is so frustrated by the state of the world and the very problems me and other builders are trying to solve that they can't help but funnel that discontent into a... miasma, directed at anything and everything around them. Somehow posts that are "just asking questions" and would, in any other environment be totally welcome, end up as weapons picked up off the bloody ground to be hurled in anger at an unintended target. Somehow close friends grow so embittered with each other they'd rather tear the thing they both believed in in half to spite the other. Somehow legitimate mistakes immediately get brandished as fraud because scorched earth total-war tactics to destroy someone we dislike become the only thing that can hold our attention, the only thing we can think to do in our ineffectiveness against a cruel and difficult world. Somehow some of the kindest and most like-minded builders have their patience ground to dust until they reach their breaking point and they lash out in ways that don't reflect who they are. We're all so fucking tense, or sick to our stomach, or caught up in the sound of our own voice, that it's impossible for us to take a beat and sort out a misunderstanding in DMs before making some public fucking tabloid accusation or insult on the timeline. And again, I don't think (would like to believe, as a fundamentally optimistic person) that most of this is in bad faith. But the medium leaves no other outcome for us. So, for me, Twitter is no longer just a waste of time, it's an active threat to my goals. It's a long drag on a cigarette taken between work calls that no longer even brings me comfort, it's just the thing I do, and it's slowly giving us all cancer. It saps my energy, ruins my mood, and makes me, on darker days, doubt whether any of this is even worth it, let alone possible. I don't want my life's work to amount to being unhappy and resentful of the people I'm trying to help (yes, even if you and I have disagreements, even if we hate each other, I want better for you too). So, I will be trying the nicotine patches yet again. Since there's no "Non Smoking" section of Twitter, I will be dramatically reducing the time I spend on here, and funneling that energy into other, more productive channels. I hope to write more for my blog, 314pool.com. Perhaps I'll get back into live-streaming some of my work on Twitch. If you want to stay in touch and we're not connected elsewhere, the best way is by email. It's just my first name at sundae.fi. (Yes, I know this isn't an airport, and I don't have to announce my departure. I considered just disappearing, as this feels a little bit melodramatic. But in the end, I wanted people to know why I've gone quiet, and how to reach me.) I hope I'm not alone in noticing this trend, especially within our community. If any of this resonates with you, it might be worth looking at what the timeline is accomplishing (or not) for you. And don't worry. Recent weeks have been harder than most, as I'm sure you've all seen on the timeline, but I'm made of tougher stuff. I'll still be here and building, and you'll still see the impact of the work that my team and I do (and boy do they have some exciting things for you soon). I just really really don't think Twitter is the right place for me to fix the problems I want to fix.

😱😱BREAKING: CARDANO MAY BE THE TRUE #1 MOST DECENTRALIZED BLOCKCHAIN🚨😱 Ethereum claims 922K validators, but that number is structurally inflated, since every 32 ETH requires a new validator. Given the current FUD on Midnight coming from the Cardano ecosystem, a reset is needed for some to understand: - Midnight is a project on Cardano - When Midnight wins, Cardano wins - Midnight is a good actor - Without Midnight the Pentad would never have had the successes it had - Midnight shall demonstrate Cardano is a good chain to launch a partner chain on, as a role model for others to follow - As Cardano we ought to embrace projects on our chain and not gaslight them I fully agree with Charles on this, it saddens me videos like this are necessary. I applaud Charles for keeping up the good fight. Cardano must succeed. We are one of the very few big chains left honoring the vision of Satoshi and believing in self-custody and decentralization. If in doubt 👇👀

Cardano for the win! 🚀 It’s getting ridiculously easy: ✅ Top decentralization ✅ Never hacked ✅ Rock-solid uptime ✅ BTC & ETH users now access Cardano DeFi directly with FluidTokens Smart Accounts (native atomic swaps live!) All boxes checked. We’re built different.

Well done FluidTokens.
Cardanogator - Gator Unity Systems 🇺🇸 🐊 🌴@Cardanogator

🚨 **THIS IS MASSIVE, CARDANO FAM!** 🚨 Just dropped today: **FluidTokens Smart Accounts are LIVE** — and when you stack this with **Midnight mainnet** (Kūkolu phase, launched end of March) + native **$ADA** as the powerhouse rail... we're not just talking DeFi anymore. We're talking **real-world decentralized banking** that actually feels like a CEX — but **non-custodial, private, and fully on-chain**. No more wallet juggling. No more clunky bridges. No more broadcasting every position to the world. Here's the magic: - Connect your **MetaMask** (EVM) or **Xverse** (BTC) — the wallet you ALREADY love. - FluidTokens spins up a **Smart Account** on Cardano controlled by your existing signatures. - Deposit USDC from Ethereum side → atomic-swap straight into **native ADA** (they just proved it with the first trustless BTC ↔ ADA mainnet swap — no wraps, no custodians, pure HTLC crypto magic!). - Then deploy that ADA into Cardano DeFi for lending, yield, markets, liquidity — all while feeling like you're just moving money in a banking app. And now? **Layer on Midnight's programmable ZK privacy**. Hide balances, trade sizes, collateral, or entire positions... while still proving compliance via selective disclosure when you need it. FluidTokens is already Midnight-ready with their toggle — meaning shielded lending, borrowing, and DeFi primitives are coming online fast. The old dream? **"Use the chain. Make ADA your bank."** **It's not aspirational anymore. It's HERE.** One familiar wallet → seamless cross-chain value in → ADA as your core settlement and liquidity engine → private, compliant DeFi actions on Midnight → withdraw back out just as easy. This is the UX that pulls in EVM degens, BTC holders, and even institutions who’ve been waiting for privacy + usability without the custody risk. Cardano just leveled up HARD. The pieces are snapping together faster than expected — FluidTokens killing it with Smart Accounts + atomic swaps, Midnight delivering the privacy layer the world actually needs, and $ADA holding it all down. If you've been waiting for Cardano to feel *usable* like a real financial system... your moment is now. Start small, explore the dashboard, and get in early. The future of DeFi isn't "coming soon" — it's live and building momentum. Who's jumping in with me? 🔥 $ADA | $FLDT | Midnight | Cardano DeFi (Shoutout to the teams shipping relentlessly — this combo is going to be legendary.) 🐊💙🖤

Midnight is Cardano's first partner chain. It brings in major partners, increased interoperability and usability, and $NIGHT became the first CNT on Binance. It broke all volume records and currently stands for 70% of all DEX volume on Cardano. Without a doubt a huge success for Cardano and something to build on while attracting new future partner chains. We can keep this success story or we can get emotional on socials to make sure potential partner chains don't come and "steal our liquidity". I know these market conditions have been brutal for years now, but don't let it get to you. Don't let it cloud your mind. Midnight is a massive win for Cardano and they can go far together. Just imagine if this wasn't @IOHK_Charles, but a CEO from another huge company that just had a successful launch as a Cardano partner chain. Would he get the same treatment? TLDR: Stop making massive wins look like losses. We're turning into a community of Karens.

I don’t think it’s healthy for the ecosystem to concentrate liquidity into a single stablecoin. It’s better to have multiple players growing organically. That kind of environment drives constructive competition and gives both users and builders more choices, which ultimately helps the ecosystem expand. These days, many economists and financial experts have been pointing out the systemic risks behind the dominance of $USDT and $USDC. Even though both issuers maintain their peg through audits and various safeguards, a single unexpected failure could trigger a massive bank run across the entire market, leading to depegging and potentially cascading into a broader collapse of the DeFi ecosystem. That’s why there’s a growing consensus in the industry that we should structurally support multiple stablecoin issuers. The same applies to Cardano. Relying on a single dominant player isn’t sustainable and introduces unnecessary risk to the DeFi ecosystem. I believe $USDCx is important, but native stablecoins like $USDM and $USDA are also key players and valuable assets for the ecosystem.

If the community wants to have a home-grown USD backed stablecoin I can accept that, but we have TWO. USDM/USDA. What on earth is the value proposition of having liquidity fragmented across two home-grown stablecoins? None. It is actively damaging the ecosystem. This is happening because the people making these decisions fundamentally do not understand the demands of users in the blockchain space, even less so DeFi. Anyone that has used Cardano for DeFi at all would immediately understand how incredibly awful the experience of having the liquidity fragmented across all these stablecoins is. Literally gives us two unusable stablecoins. Project teams, builders, DeFi users, and anyone else using the chain in any serious capacity are all fucking crippled by the lack of a single liquid stablecoin. We have five unusable illiquid home-grown stablecoins now that nobody can use, when instead we could have one liquid stablecoin and teams would actually have something they can use. One of USDM/USDA needs to die or those companies need to merge and liquidity needs to concentrate in USDCx and the surviving home-grown stable.
