The residents loved tasting the fondue fountains for our Magical Mystery Tour to Switzerland. They tried the cheese fondue with Tiger Bread, then the chocolate fondue with fresh strawberries, marshmallows and pretzels. The fondue fountains were a great success at the homes 🫕

Thursday mornings at Willow Wood are golf competition mornings. There are a number of very competitive golfers at Willow Wood and there is always fierce competition between the ladies and the men.

The Willows hosts a weekly performance group where Gayle chooses a song with dance movements for everyone to join in 🎶 Last week she chose “Put a little love in your heart”, filmed for resident Jimmy, as he is in hospital. The residents wanted to wish Jimmy a speedy recovery.

Every fortnight, we are lucky to have volunteers, Gill and Reta, attend Argyle Court to assist residents with card-making. Not only are residents meaningfully engaged, the cards are great quality and available to buy.

Willow Wood residents headed down to Mornington for a scenic bus trip. They stopped at the Frankston Foreshore on the way back and had afternoon tea. The residents loved watching the seagulls and the waves rolling in from the bay. Residents always love our scenic drives.

Four residents from the Willows went out to Chesterfield Farm for a Magic Moment 🚜 Liz, Marion, Nadia and Val love all animals. Visiting a farm and patting and feeding them was a wonderful experience for the ladies. It was so much fun and a magical experience.

With their love for cats, Pat, who used to work at a cat shelter and Vera, who has always had cats, visited a cat breeder in Emerald. Vera called it a "Cat Paradise". They were excited to share an afternoon tea with cat breeder Sandra and fall in love with many special cats.

Resident Phil has been running the Argyle Music Club since February 2021. Last Monday was the 100th presentation, so we had a surprise concert to celebrate. In the afternoon, we enjoyed a concert by Andre Rieu in Australia, followed by tea and a conversation about all the shows.

Kahlia is the staff member of the month at The Willows. Kahlia is a nurse who always goes the extra mile to care for residents. Recently when a resident’s precious item had gone missing, Kahlia was so determined to find this item she went through the dumpster to locate it!

Willow Wood residents held their annual Easter Parade 🎩 They wore hats they had been making over the past few days. Hats come in all shapes and sizes with various colours and Easter ornaments on top of them. Everyone was enthusiastically parading the hats for everyone to see.

The Willows hosted a themed day, “Rock around the Clock” 🤘🏼 The lounge looked incredible, with lots of decorations. We hired an old-style Wurlitzer jukebox to add to the festivities. Everyone had fun dressing up in 50’s rock style, dancing and enjoying lovely treats 🍦

Rose, Margot, Jo, Johanna, Nola, Audrey and Kevin went to the Lynbrook Hotel for an all-you-can-eat lunch! The residents have been saying for ages how they would love to go to an all-you-can-eat buffet, and they loved it! They walked away with big smiles and full bellies 😋

Willow Wood residents did some Easter crafts, making centrepieces for the dining room tables 🐣 Marj was holding a green rabbit and wanted a photo for her granddaughter; she thought she would love to see the rabbit.

The Willows had a full house with the fantastic entertainer Jennifer during Happy Hour. Resident Joe was up dancing with her for the entire hour! 🕺🏼

Congratulations to Izabela, a leading nurse at Emerald Glades, who won the Rotary Club of Emerald & District Pride of Workmanship Award 2023 👏🏻 The event was an excellent opportunity to recognise some great local businesses and outstanding staff members in one place.
