Frost potential over the northern half of Iowa. Clouds arrive late to prevent temps from dipping more. I believe the mercury stops short of hitting freezing, but if you have a sensitive plant outside it makes sense to protect it.

You'll want to take care of those plants if you've been in the garden a little early this season. Frost Advisory over southern Iowa. Freeze Warning over northern Iowa. Temps will be chilly, in the 30s, upper 20s north Saturday morning. #IAWX

A bit on the chilly side. Some spots of frost may clip NW and NE Iowa tonight. Temps shouldn't drop to a level to be too concerning for any plants outside. Keep an eye on Friday night though. #IAWX

Monday evening's severe weather scenario looks most prominent in the Mid-Mississippi River Valley. Storms are building in this evening with wind, hail and tornado threats. Most concentrated threat is over Missouri into Illinois.

Still a few more days in April, but as it stands, the 6.76" of rain at Des Moines Int'l is good for 4th wettest April on record. A few more light showers are possible through the end of the month, but this shouldn't bring amounts anywhere close to moving out of the 4th spot.
