at the front kabwe is more globular, similar brow profiles.

@Phillip05166897 I've seen saldhana compared to Kabwe, now irhoud is being described as some kind of late regional ergaster. theres a lot of heidelbergensis traits, LH18 and herto are at least more modern.

Yes. In the recent Thomas Quarry study that highlighted the non-metric differences with Antecessor, it essentially replicated the older study comparing Tighenif with Antecessor.

the behavioural modernity we see from denisovans and Neanderthals got me thinking about this, how similar sized brains came to advanced culture and thinking, meaning cranial morphology differences in my opinion are not that relevant to what makes us human

given how advantageous cognitive performance is, could we rule out Neanderthals and Denisovans had their own alleles which impact those 3 factors, given the polygenic nature of the brain it'd be hard to say they didnt.

@CompellingDNA well I agree with having denisovan closer to sapiens than neanderthal, because I think longi clade leads to east asian sapiens, given all the traits east asian erectus shares with denisovans that puts them closer than neanderthals in my mind

@Local_Origins1 Yes, I would think that Denisovans would be closer to Asian erectus. There is not much difference in the age splits though. Only 100ky between Neanderthal and Sapiens, with Denisovans in the middle.

@CompellingDNA the thing i was looking at was how they positioned Chinese erectus and the longi clade, I thought they should be closer together, instead Chinese erectus is on the other side of the neanderthal and heidelbergensis groups.

@Phillip05166897 @CompellingDNA I hope theres something there in Peking specimens, however in that time frame you'd expect natural drift and overturn in the genome, so I wouldnt expect much, some advantageous retentions like what is left of neanderthal and Denisovan

Using Morphometric analysis, Daka and Buia skulls fall between Sangiran 17 and Kabwe, ancestral to Heidelbergensis. These 2 skulls share traits with Sangiran and Ergaster, suggesting hybridization. Peking Man is the direct ancestor of Modern Lineages.

@Phillip05166897 @CompellingDNA maybe, but this makes me think about africa, how much of the modern human genome we recognise as modern human is a carry over from whenever the transition happening in africa from heidelbergensis to irhoud (or whatever model you prefer, doesn't matter for the question)...
