Peter Lynch, the man who turned $20 million into $14 billion running Fidelity's Magellan Fund, averaging 29.2% annual returns for 13 straight years (Save this).
And his most famous lesson is the simplest one: "Know what you own, and know why you own it."
He's talking about something that happens every day, people spend hours researching which refrigerator to buy.
They'll spend days hunting for the best airfare deal to save $50 then they'll hear a stock tip on the bus and drop $10,000 on it without a second thought.
"The reason I own this is the sucker is going up" Lynch said that's the actual answer he gets when he presses most investors on why they own a stock and that, he says, is not a reason.
His test is brutal and simple, if you can't explain to a 10 year old in two minutes or less why you own a stock, you shouldn't own it because if you don't understand the business, you have no idea when to hold, when to add, or when to sell.
You're just riding price movement blind.
This is why most retail investors lose money not because they pick bad stocks but because they panic out of good ones during normal volatility.
When you don't understand why you own something, every 10% dip feels like a reason to sell.
Lynch built his entire career on the opposite approach, find simple businesses, understand exactly what they do, know why they'll be worth more in five years, and hold with conviction while everyone else panics.
The most important thing isn't your stock screener or your price target but rather being able to look at what you own and say, I understand this, I know why it goes up, and I can handle it going down 30% without losing my mind.

They said @elonmusk should watch this because this might be the first time he notice FSD V14 can even do this.
The car in the video is a rear-wheel-drive Model Y. The mountain road was extremely slippery after the rain, and this road is usually almost unused, so the ground was covered with moss. Even when FSD V14 encountered a situation where the drive wheels completely lost traction, it still kept trying and did not give up.

🇰🇷 Interactive Brokers just opened direct access to Korean stocks for Western investors.
Here are 3 names on my radar:
000660 — SK Hynix
The world’s dominant HBM supplier. Q1 revenue tripled year-over-year, surpassing 50 trillion won for the first time. Just announced a $13B investment in a new HBM packaging plant — construction started this month. Every Nvidia AI chip runs on their memory. 2026 capacity: fully booked.
281820 — KC Tech
Korea’s only domestic developer and mass producer of CMP equipment — the process that planarises every advanced chip. Over 50% domestic market share. Supplies Samsung and SK Hynix directly. As HBM demand explodes, KC Tech sits in the critical path of every wafer that ships.
161580 — Philoptics
OLED display laser processing equipment, plus semiconductor wafer bonding and EV battery manufacturing. Multi-sector exposure in a single KOSDAQ name. Up ~95% over the last year. Every folding Samsung display passes through laser systems like these.
Korea was the top performer in emerging markets in 2025, up 70%+ in USD terms.
I hope to learn more from the Korean community on X also - feel free to drop a follow and discuss!

In February, activist fund Palliser Capital took a stake in Japanese toilet maker Toto and pushed it to expand a ceramics line used in semiconductors.
It recently said Japanese MSG maker Ajinomoto is “most undermonetized AI infrastructure monopoly” because:
▫️in 1908, Ajinomoto discovered umami (“the fifth taste”) and, a year later, started commercializing it based on the company’s expertise in amino acid science
▫️Ajinomoto (which means “essence of flavour”) eventually took its mastery of complex chemistry to create a “high-performance insulating film used in semiconductor substrates, enabling ultra fine wiring and multi-layer interconnects between chips and circuit boards”
▫️since 1999, the company has sold this substrate product as Ajinomoto Build-Up Film (ABF) and it has become the industry standard
▫️Palliser says ABF’s “performance characteristics (electrical insulation, reliability, manufacturability) are not substitutable at advanced nodes”
▫️ABF currently has a 95% global share in ABF and 100% share in high-end AI data center applications.
While mission-critical for high-density AI packaging, ABF still represents less than 0.1% of a GPU’s sale price.
As GPU chips advance, ABF has become even more important. There is 4x more ABF in Nvidia’s Vera Rubin vs. H100 chip (they want Ajinomoto to expand production line).
Palliser thinks Ajinomoto can increase ABF prices by at least +30% (based on price increases from other chip substrate providers).
Ajinomoto is up +65% in the past year and has a current market cap of ~$28B.
In 2025, revenue hit ~$10B with the majority of sales coming from its seasoning division which includes MSG/umami, bonito stock, seasoned salt & pepper and — my absolute favourite — anchovy soup powder (slaps very very hard).
However, ABF has climbed to 27% of profits vs. 63% of profits from seasoning. And the ABF unit is growing much faster (with higher margins).
By 2028, Palliser thinks seasoning and ABF will each do 45% of profits (frozen foods makes up most of remainder).

There is a single thin-film material required by every AI chip on earth. GPUs, TPUs, custom ASICs. All of them. 98% of global supply controlled by one Japanese chemical company. Zero production-ready alternatives. One producer fully booked through 2027. Raising prices. Lead times past 6 months. NVIDIA is so scared they're paying half the capex to expand supplier fabs themselves. The keyword is “umami”. Nobody's talking about this. They will be in about
