Plenary 5 of #LCIL24 provided our final session of the conference and focused on the the future of International Law, with Chair Sir Daniel Bethlehem KCMG KC, in conversation with Judge Tomas Heidar, Professor Naz Modirzadeh and Professor Surabhi Ranganatha.

Panel 16 of #LCIL24 explored The final frontier! Our Space Law panel examined current developments in an area which is the subject of increasing international attention and concern.

Panel 15 of #LCIL24 discussed Energy Security considering legal issues raised by attacks on energy infrastructures and trading routes - asking whether international law is currently fit to address threats to energy security and, if not, how could the framework be strengthened?

Panel 14 of #LCIL24 focussed on how AI is transforming the global landscape, raising critical questions for law, governance, & security. The panel explored legal challenges & opportunities, focussing on disinformation, cybersecurity, & frameworks of international governance.

Panel 13 of #LCIL24 discussed International Law & Domestic Courts exploring the interaction of int’l & national law, focusing on litigation in domestic courts & the UK’s obligations under int’l human rights law & customary int’l law, & comparative perspectives.

In the 75th anniversary year of the Geneva Conventions, Panel 12 of #LCIL24 - ‘Old and New: Changing Technologies in Warfare and International Humanitarian Law' panel explored the implications of new technologies in warfare, strategic considerations and humanitarian impacts.

Migration remains a high priority for states & electorates worldwide with many heading to the polls during 2024, the #LCIL24 International Migration & Refugee Law panel discussed the role of the courts, the international legal community & other actors.

Panel 10 of #LCIL24 discussed The Activities of Multinational Corporations under International Law, exploring ways in which multinational corporations interact with, can become subject to or enjoy rights under international law.

Panel 9 of #LCIL24 explored International Settlement of Disputes. As cases before the ICJ attract more attention than ever before, our panel examined the means by which disputes are brought before international courts tribunals and the criteria determining access.

In Plenary 4 of #LCIL24 Chair, The Rt Hon Lady Arden of Heswall DBE was joined by The Rt Hon Lord Lloyd-Jones, Justice of the Supreme Court for a presentation on Public International Law in the UK Supreme Court.

Day 2 of #LCIL24 begins with 'A view from the International Bench' which sees Chair Doug Wilson OBE, Director-General, Attorney General’s Office, in discussion with Judge Tim Eicke KC, European Court of Human Rights & Judge Kimberley Prost, Member, International Criminal Court.
