@mattparlmer Take audio equipment. Røde is 100% made in Australia. Products anyone would be proud of from XLR cables to mixing boards and mics. Family business that got its 2nd wind from a reverse engineered Chinese microphone. About us: “Over 500 million in precision machinery”.

Without a globally competitive civilian advanced manufacturing sector we are extremely screwed militarily, you need to get good at making phones in order to get good at making drones

It’s unfortunate that the term “American Dynamism” was co-opted to be a moniker for defense tech, because we need a lot of money allocated to non-defense tech ventures that can rebuild America’s core production infrastructure

@OAlexanderDK Yeah I built one in an afternoon with Claude. It’s stupid easy. What’s worse is every AI influencer bot hyping them up

The OSH Kart - Mini is here! This is made out of laser cut and bent sheet, laser cut and bent tube, laser welding, and off-the-shelf parts available on McMaster-Carr, Amazon, and Harbor Freight. All the metal is US-made by OSH Cut. I wish I could say the off the shelf parts were domestic, but some things just aren't available that at home. A shame, but true. This little thing can go 30 mph. Way too fast for its size, tbh. We'll post some videos. :-) (this isn't a product. We made it for fun, but we aren't selling it)

I built a calendar for OpenClaw 🗓️ Orchestrator is an OpenClaw harness that enables you to view your agent's tasks and cron jobs on a visual timeline. You can give Orchestrator a goal, walk away for hours, then come back to see a literal paper trail of what it did. Full human to agent collaboration - tasks, comments, approvals. All in one simple view.

@adhoc97 @tbpn @alapshah1 The guy tried to elaborate on the piece and if you think he sounded intelligent, experienced, etc then great. If you didn’t also perfect. I don’t think the interview made the article look any better. Sort of reaffirmed the sensationalism.

Pretty weak boys Guy opened the interview with “big tech did layoffs bc of AI” and you barely pushed back. No subsequent word was credible by him. Insane logical jumps, border line incoherent. You had every opportunity to do your job. And to seek truth publicly Bummer how “open source” media just turned into the same sensationalist clickbait garbage as all of its priors (WRT to this clown interviewed - only diff is it’s a single person entity”

"GDP, if done properly, will absolutely explode." Co-author of the viral Citrini Research article @alapshah1 says if jobs disappear too quickly, AI companies should support tax reforms that broaden the gains to the general public - or risk an economic crisis that stalls their own innovation: “There’s going to be a much stronger alignment for the laboring class overall to say, ‘Hey, we need to fix this problem.’” “We’re getting way more efficient. We’ve built machine intelligence. But we have to structure our society such that, as those things happen, hopefully gradually, we do the right thing from a taxation perspective." “The winners should win. But if that’s what’s causing the displacement, let’s make the pie a little bit bigger for everyone.” "That should be something that appeals to a lot of folks in the AI complex because if we don't, progress will slow down because we'll have an economic crisis and we're not going to finance nearly as much of it as we otherwise would."
