Both Purdue and Alabama are very analytically based programs. But both win the PPP in VERY different ways.
Bama was + 21 in total 3 points made; Nate Oats is arguably the best in the country in terms of shot quality.
BUT
Purdue has the ultimate double edged sword- Oboard % + Braden Smith in PnR.
Much of their rebounding success comes from the opposition blitzing or shocking Smith.
The short drop gives them an organic 4 on 3 advantage where the low man has to disengage from their big. They had just over 3x the offensive boards last night, than Alabama did, with 17.
If you don’t put two on the ball with Smith handling, then you have to live with the best PG in the country playing out of a mismatch or on an island.
