@ArtemisConsort You’re projecting how beliefs manifest among the right-wing right onto the left The right’s “natural order” & hierarchical beliefs lead to absolutist, black-and-white thinking; for them, being on their side is a prerequisite for being viewed as possessing moral decency

Moderate Democrats have a foundational belief that left=good, and so they can at most criticize people to their left on strategic or pragmatic grounds, rather than ideological grounds. This results in a situation where they are constantly trying to read the tea leaves in leftists’ statements, giving them delusional levels of benefit-of-the-doubt, and running cover for them. This is why the “abundance democrat” project is absolutely doomed: they don’t have the courage of their convictions and will immediately cave in the face of leftist moral attacks. We see this even from the main proponents of this movement, Yglesias, Noah Smith, etc. They have zero ability to tell the left they are not just mistaken but evil. They chuckle and accommodate, because on some level they feel morally embarrassed by the left, embarrassed that their own pesky reason has precluded them from being open, full-on communists. They are cowards, and they resent both the people who reveal this by pushing them left and the people to their right who describe it.

Obama's former speechwriter, Jon Favreau, asks Democrat spokesperson Hasan Piker if he actually supports Hamas terrorists. FAVREAU: "When you say Hamas is a thousand times better, do you actually mean that?" PIKER: "I do mean it."

In the UK, Millie Taplin was attending her first nightclub on her 18th birthday when she was handed a drink by a stranger. The stranger handed her a vodka lemonade “Try this” Millie took a sip. Seconds later, her face went numb, her fingers curled into claws and her entire body stiffened like she was possessed. She stayed fully conscious, trapped inside herself, writhing in agony and screaming in her head that she couldn’t move her body. Rushed to hospital, doctors said she was likely dosed with two unknown drugs: one to paralyse her, one to knock her out. Tests couldn’t identify the substance. Her mother later released footage as a warning: never accept a drink from stranger.

@M0de71 @MaxtheCrowhouse @justalexoki Having the ability to create a family, owning a normal house, having a supportive community, is now almost a luxury across the world. You didnt need to be a millionare to have all that in the past. Now you do.

@M0de71 @MaxtheCrowhouse @justalexoki Most people dont give a shit about being a billionaire, they just want a stable income. Looking up to billionaires is the most retarded thing anyone could do.

@justalexoki Lol just like how Elon Musk is a super smart genius? 🤣🤣🤣 We all know better by now. It's not intelligence that gets you into those positions of wealth and power, it is sociopathy and lack of empathy that allow them to exploit others.

Not smarter, more brutal, more deceptive, and with zero empathy. They have no problem lying and they thrive on the death and suffering of non jews. They are different to actual humans. We actually care about life and dont like to see others harmed. It is our empathy and caring about life prevents us fighting back

Yes. OpenAI thinks that almost everyone is going to need to go on welfare, forever. But they're also not big promoters of welfare! That's the thing -- if AI creates radical inequality, that will include inequality of power. noahpinion.blog/p/what-if-a-fe…
Eric Levitz@EricLevitz

Last week, OpenAI argued that the government may need to create a vast new welfare state to counter AI-induced unemployment and inequality. And yet, the company's leaders have ignored - or abetted - attacks on actually existing social programs vox.com/politics/48546…

@M0de71 @allTheYud @tenobrus 800 pages, eh? You don't make it sound enticing. Banks on the other hand, his use of language is exquisite, I love his books. And I think the Culture as a civilization is somewhat achievable! Probably! If we can hit post-scarcity and fundamentally respect life and freedom.

@tenobrus A joyless disaster of a stagnant society set in a universe performatively empty of meaning. I'd rather go to Peter Hamilton's Commonwealth if I can't define my own world. The people there are having fun.

If Israel was willing to actually commit genocide, now or at any point since the late 1940s, they wouldn’t be in this predicament. It’s the fact that they are insufficiently genocidal that causes them a great deal of consternation:

@M0de71 @GunterFehlinger @EvaVlaar I don't know much about FDR so he might have been a semi-dictator. Did he pass laws that would entrench his power? Like redrawing election districts and things like that
