Seeing an INLAND EMPIRE matinee at the IFC Center in 2006 in a basically empty room (there were maybe two other people) remains one of the best favorite movie theater experiences I’ve ever had. The world felt upside down (in a good way) as I walked down 6th Ave afterwards.

My favorite films of 2024, a pretty damn good year for film overall, across all genres (but particularly for horror):

I urge you to find a theater that’s showing NICKEL BOYS and go see it as soon as you can. It left me with even more of a “wow” feeling than I had after THE BRUTALIST, and that’s saying something.
