@nikhilnanjappa I agree to that too. In the end, it is about their leadership and capability. Some domains need grass root understanding but some others need people who understand the domain and work with the bureaucrats to create that long term vision. It is a balance.

I don't know about you, but my head is still spinning over this Melania speech. WTF! Sure, there are photos of her consorting with Jeffrey and Ghislaine over the years, and maybe a fleeting email here or there, but has she ever really been THAT big of a focal point in the speculation? (Because now she definitely WILL BE...) She denied wrongdoing. What wrongdoing was she ever even accused of? Did anyone notice that while she was at it, she could've declared that her husband also didn't do anything wrong, but conspicuously chose not to...? Why suddenly make a televised statement on Epstein this afternoon -- apparently without Donald's knowledge -- calling for Congressional action and public "survivor" testimony, because, she claims, Epstein did not "act alone"? Donald has always been adamant that he feels the country should move on from Epstein. It's certainly not something he feels should warrant any further political or legislative attention. But... that's exactly what Melania just called for! So again, WTF!

This is gobsmacking. Not only did Melania Trump suddenly decide to give a televised address about Jeffrey Epstein, she's calling on Congress to "act," because Epstein was "not alone." So she just threw a giant stick of political dynamite on the issue her husband despises!

Samay Raina is just a comic. Some jokes land, some don’t. Some may be too dark, some below the belt. Police abuse and media circus made him into some kind of a revolutionary for those who hate State excesses. If you don’t like his comedy, don’t watch it. Heck, convince hundred others not to watch it. Run a boycott campaign to put pressure on financial sponsors not to sponsor his shows. That’s your freedom of speech. But don’t ask the State to step in. State has a monopoly on violence to restrain liberties which must be used judiciously. Poor or cruel jokes don’t make someone a criminal. And if you think your kids get “influenced” by him, the problem, frankly, is with your parenting. If you’re frustrated that your kids look up to him and don’t listen to you, maybe it’s time for introspection.

There was no replay shown, and the umpire directly signaled it as a four. Second point why didn’t David Miller take a single on the second-last ball when it was clearly an easy run? The match could have been tied right there; the result could have been decided later. But he chose not to run. Third point on the last ball, when Kuldeep Yadav dived, it wasn’t even shown clearly whether it was a run-out or not. There was no replay, and the umpire immediately gave it out, handing the win to Gujarat Titans. This raises serious suspicions of match-fixing. It clearly looks questionable, especially involving Delhi Capitals.

The first step to fixing Indian sports is putting sportspeople in charge of sports federations. Out of 63 vice presidents across major sports federations only 6 have a sporting background. We allocated ~4480 crore annually to sports yet local stadiums remain dilapidated and athletes struggle financially. We’ve to replace self nomination and insider voting with athlete led elections. Olympians and athletes who've represented India should have the right to elect federation members and choose people who actually understand what it takes to compete at the highest level. If we want better outcomes, we’ve to put decision making in the hands of people who’ve lived the sport. Else we’ll always keep debating medals instead of building a system that produces them.
