Graham was elected from South Carolina to the Senate replacing Strom Thurmond in 2002. Throughout his Senate career he has been a strongarm of the GOP establishment for the South.
He redeemed his image among the GOP base greatly after being against President Trump in 2016 during the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court in 2018, vigorously defending him from false rape allegations.
Graham was 71 years old.

Lindsey Graham was my favourite U.S. Senator ever. He was a man of principle, dedication, and grit. He was one of the few who stood by the Iranian people when the people of Iran were alone. He stood by Israel through their many conflicts. He understood the destruction going on in the Middle East, Turkey, and Pakistan. Senator Graham was taken from us too soon. He will live on as the official Uncle of a Free Iran. He will live on as a true patriot to the United States of America. Thank you Mr. Senator Lindsey Graham.
