@manuli772 Yeah, I’m really curious about like season completion data in general. My gut feeling for Talamasca is a lot of people checked out ep 1 and fell off as the season progressed.

@MaharetCompound Looking at the number of hours watched, Iwtv is the only show among the 3 to have a solid viewership between seasons, I think this is one of the main data all networks consider before axing or renewing a show.

@Daniell36123247 Oh that’s a good point! Yes, it’s not really apples to apples to compare the Netflix data, bc all the shows had different circumstances/timing when they arrived to Netflix. But at the high level, people did watch Talamasca on Netflix 🤷‍♀️

@beigepilowprncs I think it’s generally Alexandra Daddario fans and then casual viewers who just want like supernatural shows. On social, I’ve mainly seen people post about it on Facebook 🤷‍♀️

@MissouriGirl2 I believe they send out screeners like 4 weeks ahead of the premiere. And then there was a review embargo until like 7-10 days before the premiere, when then some publications will publish reviews in advance. At least that’s what they did for S1/S2, but could change for S3!

@MaharetCompound When do they release the first few episodes to reviewers? Is there a time frame for sending them out ahead of the premiere?

@khaleesi_101 Oh interesting for the giveaway. Yes, I think it really hit internationally as casual viewing, for a supernatural-esque spy show— but I suspect a lot of initial viewership fell off, because the story didn’t really hold on its own.

@MaharetCompound But very little social traction. We did a blu ray giveaway for our podcast & it got practically zero interest

@pink_nylon That’s what Netflix reported 🤷‍♀️ I wish AMC+ published some metrics too, would be really interesting to see what viewership is really like on their platform!

Last point— I don’t think Talamasca is or was tied to the success of IWTV in any real way. While it might have been great if Talamasca blew up & brought new views/revenue to AMC, the longevity of IWTV is really only going to be tied to the success of S3.

@lynneville2 Yes, I think that was a big part. It just wasn’t going to have its own audience.

@MaharetCompound I wonder if it was partly because it wasn't driving subscriptions like iwtv did.

MW, as bad a show as it is, has developed an actual, separate fanbase, independent of IWTV hype. Talamasca never did that, and never really positioned itself too. The story was too dependent on vampire hype— why they put Daniel Molloy in the pilot.

—So I think this cancellation decision was largely based on fan & critic response, and creative direction. People did watch (at least initially, it’s unclear how many finished the season), but it never garnered any real buzz/hype, except for the IWTV crossover elements.

The humor in the TVL promo so far has been perfect *to me* 🤣😆 “We’re probably all going to die.” I just want more with the band. And I love these mockumentary style moments 💙

Again, I know nothing about Spotify metrics, but these seem like legit good numbers to me — for a fictional musician with two songs that came out four weeks and two days ago… 📈👀💙
