Housing needs assessment for homeless person failed to consider social services assessment, earlier housing assessment, reasons for homelessness, and all potential household members. Also, relying on 'portal' failed to constitute notification as applicant didnt have IT equipment

This is a constitutionally significant case addressing when a Court should make a mandatory order where a local housing authority is in breach of a statutory duty but has limited resources. This required the Supreme Court to look at the separation of powers ...

Policy of offering private tenancies to discharge homelessness duties was not a proxy for offering households subject to benefits cap housing outside borough. No breach of s149 equality duty. In any event, compliance would not have led to different outcome.

Ending the homelessness relief duty because suitable accommodation is available does not necessarily prevent applicant from remaining homeless, and being owed the main duty. There may be cases where the accommodation is not reasonable to continue to occupy bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/…

The number of homeless households in Temporary Accommodation has hit a record high of 104, 510 Hard to overstate what a calamity this is for the families and children involved. Insecure, often far from support networks, expensive, poor quality. Life- alteringingly awful
