I've been thinking of this scene. Gandalf is speaking to Frodo while they are lost in Moria. Frodo expresses a desire of death, to which Gandalf immediately chastises him. I am also reminded of the Bible verse Mathew 5:44 "But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
We tiny humans have no idea what will happen tomorrow, and some people have made it very difficult to love with the passing of @charliekirk11 but as I think of what Tolkien said through the lens of Gandalf, and of the book of Mathew, I find myself saddened by the world, yet I find solace in the Lord Jesus, and I pray that he brings swift healing and comfort to everyone, even my enemies. Even though it is a very human desire, I find no joy in death, save that of someone who has lived a long and good life, surrounded by their loved ones as they ready themselves to meet the Father in Heaven. I doubt this post will be seen by many, and a few might even hate this post, but the world will find healing again, it may not be at this next dawn, but the dawn of healing will come again.
