The Vee Pass
Rhododendron ponticum is one of the most destructive invasive alien species in Irish habitats.
Originally introduced in the 1760s as a garden ornamental & woodland game cover,
Photo taken over the Vee Pass.
Interesting fact Lismore castle is 12 km away from the Vee
@philipnolan1 I missed a lot of stuff because my x account was deleted and then decided not to bother with it for a while, so I missed that you are driving again. Just delighted for you Philip - big difference now for you. Congratulations
Some of you asked The only modification I made to my house is a grab bar in the shower, which I seldom use anyway.
That’s it.
I’m not great at physically writing, but I can type.
I can’t feel exact temperature on my right side, and I can’t walk long distances, but I’ll get there!
When you have a #stroke, you have two choices, really.
You can lament what you’ve lost (and let’s not underestimate that) — or you can think, it takes longer, but I can do it.
I’m not dead, just different.
Music gets me through, always.
Well, that and food… 😂
It’s genuinely a shame that fancy silverware and proper dinnerware have fallen so far out of favor. There was something magical about pulling out that beautiful, perfectly shined set, laying it on a linen tablecloth, and instantly turning an ordinary dinner into an occasion.
The soft clink of real silver, the way it caught the candlelight… it just felt special.Yet so many of us inherit our parents’ (or grandparents’) fine silverware, only for it to sit tucked away in a wooden case or cupboard, never seeing the light of day.
So tell me if something this pretty landed in your hands would you actually use it for special meals… or would you think “it’s too nice, I don’t have a reason”?
Today is the day !
I am Launching my new project
ONE PATCH WILD
The idea is beautifully simple. Dedicate a small area of your garden to nature. Let native flowers bloom, allow grasses to seed, add a log pile, or simply mow less often. What may look untidy to some can become a thriving ecosystem supporting local wildlife.
You don’t need acres of land. You don’t need specialist knowledge. You just need one patch.
Imagine if thousands of gardeners each gave back a few square metres to nature. Together, we could create a network of mini nature reserves stretching across towns, villages, and cities a living corridor for wildlife. I will be posting garden plans and planting lists each week, ideas and results.
Please share if you can find a little minute in your day. We can make difference if we hold hands.

My friend and his wife have invited me to France, Belgium and the Netherlands in August. I think I’ll go, even for a few days.
My family have anointed me!
I’ll need assistance in the airport, but I need to get off this rock!
Fishing on my brother's boat in Wicklow this morning, we caught some herring, a phenomenal fish when freshly caught, just coat them in flower and pan fry.
@Louisehassan4@MaterTrauma The pain is worse than childbirth- honestly thought I was going to die and I passed out it was so bad - get it out definitely
@MaryFTyrrell@MaterTrauma My gallbladder full of “sludge” and stones, and so probably need removing and I wouldn’t mind as the pain is excruciating isn’t it!
So I came to A&E at 3 am and it’s an issue with gallbladder. That’s why the pain was so acute. A much better experience this time and would appreciate any positive thoughts that it’s going to be a positive rather than negative outcome. 🙏 to the staff at the @MaterTrauma
Overwhelmed by all the gorgeous messages sent in this morning. Thank you to Johnny B. Broderick for these words, and to Seán Keane for the reading. @RTElyricfm
Does anyone else automatically mute that stupid Vodafone add with the granny singing the sean-nós lullaby about 'aoibhlín'... God her voice goes right thru my head, God bless that baby having to listen to that is all I'll say🤣
