And it's ready! 📼❤️📜 The FFV1 lossless video encoding format (versions 0, 1 & 3) is now officially documented as an Informational RFC by the @IETF as RFC9043. 👏🥳 Lots of great work by lots of great people on this. #ffmpeg #ffv1 #openstandards rfc-editor.org/info/rfc9043

Beta-time: I've just released Mp3tag v3.06e which adds editing cover art for Matroska MKA/MKV 🖼️ This way editing image attachments in the @MatroskaOrg container becomes a breeze and is integrated with all the different tag sources of Mp3tag 🙌 Enjoy! community.mp3tag.de/t/mp3tag-devel…

@cconcolato That sounds like an issue with the muxer used by Shaka Player. Maybe one Cluster per frame ?

"Take a 180p video for example, if the bitstreams of video and audio are around 100kbps, the size is about 102kbps after converted to fMP4 DASH format. But when we convert it to Webm DASH format, the size is about 120–130kbps" is it true? blog.hotstar.com/vp9-encoding-j…

I kind of miss the days of #digipres drama where MOV and MKV were battling for supremacy in @BFI National Archive. Game over, #FFV1 @MatroskaOrg won... even those DPX are FFV1 MKV, thanks to @MediaArea_Net #RAWcooked. MPEG-TS are plentiful from off-air telly, but they’re so wee!

Also just thought - without #FFV1, all these Matroskas would be 30TB not 15. All hail FFV1 Matroska, the power team for 15TB per day data storage savings! ££££££££££££

@Chiclemolesto @RetoKromer There's an active group of people working on standardization at IETF. That's where most things happen regarding the format itself.

Yes, very much. YouTube is actively using the technology for example. A lot of public and private archives worldwide are turning to Matroska as well.

@Art1Pirat If it's two separate films it may be better to have two files. But Matroska doesn't use the concept of fps so you can have consecutively multiple fps. Only the timestamp of each frame is useful.

@MatroskaOrg Btw, is it possible to encode two different fps in one matroska file? Background: digitize a filmroll as one file, but in filmroll there are two movies, first one with 18fps, second with 24fps. Possible, right? How would this mapped in Matroska? Thx.

I’m no epidemiologist and no public health expert. I do believe passionately in science and also in #Factfulness. This man is the global authority on the spread of disease. If you are a leader (in any capacity) watch this. If you are not, watch it too.
