The correct decision from Chelsea here. The manner of Enzo’s comments, compared to the delivery of Cucurella’s - regardless of the situation - wasn’t needed (and on multiple occasions). Be interesting to see what happens post-Man City.

@FootyFacts05 All good! It definitely isn’t looking good, as things stand. Club need a big end to the season, but damage already done in certain areas. Year on year lack of comms continuing to also hurt them.

I took your statement different when initially reading it. At first, I thought you were saying the summer would be big in a positive light.
However, I was mistaken and completely agree with you. The summer will be “big” but in a dark manner.

Timely comments from Marc Cucurella, who is stating the obvious publicly. Be interesting to see how they go down internally at Chelsea. Feels like a big summer coming (although we say that every year!).

@FootyFacts05 Without Champions League, it means a step back in all aspects. Pool of players available, wages reducing after taking the step up, step down in European competition - optics worsened. Noise is already starting with some players, so very much likely more will follow.

@AlexisIsKavkas @SammySamLeoCFC For sure. His future is at a crossroads this summer anyway with two years left on his current deal. If no Champions League, that is going to make things interesting regarding wage payouts for some of these more senior, established players.

@SammySamLeoCFC I think Cucurella’s interview offers such a balanced look into everything, which is why it’s landed so well - and rightly so. Whether the comments make a difference or not, that will offer a very clear indication of the direction.

@MattDebonoAC Both Enzo and Marc, two senior players leaders, speaking out on international break is probably an indication of just how strongly the players have felt about what’s happened this season— terrible look for the club, in particular the SDs.

Chelsea’s recent form has been difficult for Marc Cucurella to process.
Getting outclassed by PSG really stung. In the Spain international's eyes, the 8-2 aggregate defeat highlighted the shortcomings in the Chelsea project under BlueCo, who have invested heavily in young talent since taking over the club in May 2022.
“For a lot of players, it was the first time playing a match of that calibre, and we paid the price."
