UConn Health medical experts Dr. Sunny Mitchell and Sarah Loschiavo proudly joined the Lt. Gov. (@LGSusanB) and Sen. @MattLesser today in support of a new bill to require insurance companies to cover scalp cooling caps used during chemotherapy.

He was a friend and a mentor and, sadly, he passed away earlier this week. I am glad that before he died we were able to honor him and induct him into the CT Veterans Hall of Fame.

Instead he devoted his life to veterans in Connecticut - and when you see the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery or the Greater Middletown Military Museum, which he spearheaded, you see his legacy.

Mike Rogalsky served in the Army in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, and cared for large numbers of wounded service members during his deployment. His facility also came under direct attack several times. But he didn't stop caring for service members when he came home.

In the state senate I'm leading efforts to protect their health care and codify the Americans with Disability Act in state law so that nobody, certainly not the President or anybody else, can threaten their fundamental rights.

People with disabilities are frankly terrified right now - the administration in Washington is slashing $1 trillion from Medicaid, and Medicaid provides health care for 2/3 of CT residents living with disabilities. Many are also worried about further cuts in Connecticut.

The agreement is voluntary and residence should evaluate their options and the terms carefully. I am going to work very closely with the Town and the AG on outstanding issues including investments and oversight over JRK's mgmt of the property and compensation to the taxpayers.

This was an unprecedented problem and the Attorney General's direct involvement is significant. I know that some residents have additional requests and needs and some I know are disappointed the agreement doesn't go further.

For a month, Concierge residents have gone through hell. This proposed agreement is a first step to bringing them much needed compensation and I am grateful to Attorney General Tong for helping us hold JRK's feet to the fire.
