Pourquoi dire ça quand on te fait un compliment ? Répondre à « tu es resplendissante » par « j’ai des cernes » n’est pas une contradiction, mais un décalage : tu remplaces une appréciation globale positive par un détail négatif, sans répondre à l’intention du compliment.

People so shocked and angry with there being so many white Bajans and Indian Trinis….They are the same people who will swear they are not racist.
What makes the Caribbean the Caribbean is all of our ethnicities/heritage- influences from Africa, India, Europe - our culture is a reflection of that, from Rasta culture,our Sunday lunches, accents, games such as domino’s our food dishes, elements of music etc the Caribbean is not mono racial and anyone who expects it to be is ignorant. Over 70% of the Caribbean is mixed and we love it.

But, might I add, most Caribbean people do not use their race as their primary indicator when it comes to identity. This varies by country but you will find most people will say ”I’m Saint Lucian/from [country]” longgg before saying “I’m Afro-Caribbean/of [racial] descent”
