Hey @elonmusk you have kids, save lives and engage with this post, please. Many children killed last month. They didn't choose sides. They didn't draw borders. They didn't sign declarations of war. They drew pictures. They held their mothers' hands. They had names their parents whispered like prayers. Every man waging this war has children of his own. Every single one. So here's the question that should keep you awake tonight: What makes your child's laughter more sacred than theirs? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. @realDonaldTrump @drpezeshkian you are fathers. Before you are presidents, before you are commanders, you are fathers. Be fathers first. Pick up the phone. Not tomorrow. Today. Let these children go home. #EndTheWar

US 10Y yield at 4.34% and dropping 📉 Watch what happens when it rips toward 5%. 5% is not just a number. It’s a message. At 5%, the “risk-free” rate stops looking risk-free. Sovereign buyers China, Japan, the Gulf, start asking: why am I lending to a country running $2T+ deficits at a yield that doesn’t compensate for the real risk of default? The moment that math breaks, demand for US Treasuries dries up. And when nobody wants your debt, you can’t fund your wars, your deficits, or your empire. That’s the number where the bond market ends the war on Iran. Not diplomacy. Not strategy. Math. Putin called it: max 4 weeks. End of April. Meanwhile the real show: → Iran pocketing $2M per ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz → Selling oil to the world for Chinese yuan and crypto → Europe quietly normalizing Russian oil purchases again Let me get this straight: Wage wars on Iran and Ukraine… while reversing sanctions on the very oil you’re fighting over. The bond market doesn’t do irony. It does math. 5% is the number where the world stops pretending the dollar is safe. And the US knows it. Time will reveal the answer.

70% chance this war ends in 7 days. Why? There’s almost nothing left on the escalation ladder. What’s left: → Bomb power plants → Bomb water sanitation (the “soft nuke”) → Actual nuke When the only moves left are unthinkable, the game changes. Escalation has a ceiling. We’re touching it.

Iran was once America’s #1 ally in the Middle East. The CIA ran its regional HQ out of Tehran. Now we’re bombing it. Here’s how we got here 🧵 🧵 1/12 — Early 1900s Most people don't know this: Iran was America's #1 ally in the Middle East. The US ran its largest embassy in Tehran. The CIA headquartered its entire Middle East & Asia operations out of Iran. That's how tight they were. 2/12 — 1953 · The Coup Iran's PM Mosaddegh nationalized Iranian oil. Britain was furious — they'd been extracting it for decades. So the CIA + MI6 ran a joint coup (Operation Ajax), removed Mosaddegh, and installed the Shah. He thanked them by signing over 40% of Iran's oil fields to the US and UK. 3/12 — 1953–1979 · The Shah Era The Shah modernized Iran but ruled with an iron fist. His secret police (SAVAK) tortured dissidents. The US kept backing him anyway — oil + Cold War strategy > human rights. Resentment built for 25 years. 4/12 — 1979 · The Revolution Iranians overthrew the Shah. Ayatollah Khomeini took power. Students stormed the US Embassy and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. The US-Iran relationship was destroyed overnight. They've been enemies ever since. 5/12 — 1980–1988 · Iran-Iraq War Iraq's Saddam Hussein invaded Iran. The US backed Iraq — gave him intelligence, weapons, and looked the other way while he used chemical weapons on Iranians. Over 500,000 Iranians died. Iran never forgot. 6/12 — 2000s · "Axis of Evil" After 9/11, Bush labeled Iran part of the "Axis of Evil" alongside Iraq and North Korea. Iran accelerated its nuclear program. The US imposed waves of sanctions. The standoff began. 7/12 — 2015 · The Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) Obama negotiated a nuclear deal: Iran limits enrichment → sanctions get lifted. It was the closest the two countries had come to normalizing relations in 36 years. The IAEA confirmed Iran was complying. 8/12 — 2018 · Trump Tears It Up Trump pulled out of the deal and reimposed "maximum pressure" sanctions. Iran's economy cratered. Iran restarted advanced enrichment. Tensions spiraled. 9/12 — 2020 · Soleimani Killed The US assassinated Qasem Soleimani, Iran's most powerful military commander, via drone strike in Baghdad. Iran retaliated by striking US bases in Iraq. The region held its breath — but full war didn't come. Yet. 10/12 — 2023–2025 · Proxy Wars Collapse After Oct 7, Israel systematically dismantled Iran's proxy network: Hamas weakened, Hezbollah degraded, Assad fell in Syria. Iran's regional influence collapsed. In June 2025, Israel + US struck Iran's nuclear sites in the 12-Day War. 11/12 — Late 2025 · Iran Implodes Iran's economy collapsed — currency in freefall, 60%+ inflation. Massive protests erupted in Dec 2025. The regime killed thousands of its own people. The US moved its largest military buildup to the region since Iraq 2003. 12/12 — Feb 28, 2026 · War After failed nuclear talks in Oman, the US and Israel launched "Operation Epic Fury" — 900+ strikes in 12 hours. Supreme Leader Khamenei was killed. Iran fired missiles at Israel, US bases, and Gulf states. We're now in an active war with a country that was once our closest ally.

“Won the next 100 years” but 3 weeks in you’re lifting sanctions on Russia AND Iran to buy their oil because you can’t control the price shock you created. The US is literally funding both enemies while bombing one of them. Iran’s oil ministry responded: we have no surplus oil to relieve your markets. 40 years of sanctions resistance prepared them for exactly this moment. Meanwhile: S&P down ~7% from peak. Four straight losing weeks. Oil at $112. JPMorgan cutting targets. Russell 2000 in correction. The “country that barely flinched” is draining its Strategic Petroleum Reserve, waiving the Jones Act, and begging Russia for barrels. Gulf sovereign wealth funds hold $3T+ in US assets. “Decline of the Gulf” = forced liquidation of your equity market. And every Gulf state watching the Hormuz insurance play is learning: diversify away from the dollar or become a hostage. That accelerates de-dollarization. You can’t simultaneously bomb Iran, buy Iran’s oil, lift Russia’s sanctions, collapse the Gulf’s security model, and then call it American dominance. The entire thesis assumes Iran was a centralized regime with a single point of failure, kill the leader, chain of command shatters, game over. Three weeks in, we’re watching a decentralized military command that kept launching after Khamenei died on day one, closed the strait anyway, forced the US to lift sanctions on both its enemies, and still holds escalation dominance. That’s not a regime that “already lost.” That’s a system built to survive exactly this. This isn’t 4D chess. It’s improvisation.

Nice development from @perplexity_ai
Simon Taylor@sytaylor

Perplexity just gave every retail investor a Bloomberg Terminal. For free. Watch this demo. It's wild. @perplexity_ai connects to brokerage accounts via @Plaid and builds a custom investment dashboard in seconds. Perplexity Computer pulls from 40+ live finance tools like: - SEC filings - FactSet - S&P Global - Coinbase - LSEG. 75% of Perplexity's paying users were already asking finance questions monthly. The demand existed before the product did. But you couldn't DO anything with that information. --- Now you can connect it to your data for better insights. Connect your brokerage accounts through Plaid, and suddenly an AI agent can see your actual holdings across multiple institutions — then query institutional-grade data against them. "Show me my sector concentration risk" or "How exposed am I to rising rates" — answered in seconds with your real portfolio, not hypotheticals. --- It still can't trade for you, though. That's a deliberate regulatory design choice that lets Perplexity move fast while every neobank and robo-advisor is still waiting for compliance sign-off. Fintech companies spent a decade building Plaid as pipes for fintech apps to read your bank data. But I'm much more interested in when we give them to AI
