@victoriajcoe @halseanderson Not past 5 years but Pictures of Hollis Woods is amazing. Would Orbiting Jupiter work in this case? Kids love it!

Can you recommend a middle grade book published in the past 5 years, preferably by a debut author (though doesn’t have to be), where the main character is in (or in and out of) foster care? How about a middle grade book (same caveats) where the MC goes to therapy?

I just don’t know if I will get over this new things that my students do, since the pandemic started, where I give instructions for what they should do, tell them to do it, and then they. Just. Don’t. They just sit there until I individually prompt them.

@CatherineFrost I'll await a New Yorker's response, but all my CT, NJ and NYC friends are Yankee fans, while upstaters are Mets followers. 🤷‍♀️

Boston area native, not a huge baseball fan, finding myself in Cooperstown for the evening. Real question: Why do some folx prefer the Yankees over the Mets?

One of my favorite ways to help students think creatively about a reading is to have them make memes as a warm-up. Here are some of my favorites from act III of Romeo and Juliet. (Also, spoiler alert…but like, the play is literally hundreds of years old, so…) A 🧵…

How often do your middle school kids get report cards? Every six weeks? Twice a year?

I just told someone on the phone to have a nice life instead of a nice day, and I’m going to hide under my blanket for the rest of the day.

@lorenagerman on bluesky 💗
Don’t tell me there isn’t a conversation to be had about diversifying curriculum or act like all teachers are already teaching a wide range of texts. They’re not. Here’s a 7th grade text list for the fall of 2021. TWENTY TWENTY ONE. #DisruptTexts

@CharneGraham I would understand (maybe) if it was a cosmetics co looking specifically for certain complexions to test market foundations...but that's crazy!!

The fact that we know what the verdict SHOULD be but remain unsure of what it WILL be speaks volumes about our nation. We have work to do.
