Those settlements belong to the descendants of the Dagbon warriors who fought side by side with the Asante Empire in defeating its enemies. It also had a considerable number of civilians who worked in the Palace. They were sort of the like the security perimeter around the palace. A large section of them were relocated to Bantama to settle. The name Bantama or Bantima is Dagbanli which means “my father gave me”…..(mba’ntima) We go way back!!
