Today’s U.S. Senate Vote to pass H.J. Res. 140 is an important step for Minnesota workers, Iron Range communities, and our domestic mineral supply chain.

The agate beautifully captures our region’s geological history - volcanoes, iron, water. It deserves its place on our license plates! Disclosure: my mom lives in Moose Lake, the “Agate Capital of the World” and home to Agate Days so I’m a bit biased ;)

A federal ban on mining in the Minnesota Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA) expected to protect the lands for 20 years could soon be revoked. fox9.com/news/minnesota…

Lawmakers and local leaders rallied today to speak out about legislation that could pave the way for copper-nickel mining near the Boundary Waters. The resolution, introduced by northern MN Congressman Pete Stauber, passed the House on Jan. 21. This issue isn’t about one mine (though that company has already invested hundreds of millions of dollars into our economy and acted with integrity). This is a broader conversation about resources, environmental reviews, and following processes.
