Tomorrow, we write up our Diary entries! We have been busy drafting a diary entry about an eventful climb of The Dreadful Menace! (A mountain from our class poem) I am excited to see lots of grammatical features included and our focus grammar - personification! @MertonBankP

The children in Y5 are really enjoying our Earth and Space topic in Science! It is wonderful to see “mini space experts” begin to blossom as we have learnt why planets are referred to as “spherical bodies” and the link gravity has! @MertonBankP

Our Geography topic on Mountains had us engrossed as we learnt all about the unsolved mystery of Mallory and Irvine! The intrigue and enthusiasm shown by the children was next to none! Did these two men make it to the top of Everest? 🏔️ @MertonBankP

Charlie has made his first appearance to the new Y5 class! 🐿️ We are so lucky to have him living in the tree outside our classroom! He keeps an eye on Y5 each year! @MertonBankP 🐿️ 😂

This handy acronym works a treat every year, when Year Five attempt to learn the order of the planets from the sun! 🌞 We smashed our objective today and are loving our Science lessons! @MertonBankP

Year Five’s Value board is up! Our Value bird’s beaks are full of the children’s ideas on how they show perseverance in their every day lives! @MertonBankP

Y5 have been studying the structure of a play script in preparation to write their own! To help us understand the, we did some role play and got into character by acting off a play script in small groups! 🎭 @MertonBankP

Today we sign off from Fractions and start a new unit, Decimals and Percentages! Looking back over some Fractions challenges shows we sure have tackled some tricky Maths! @MertonBankP

Y5 enjoyed their visit to Cowley High School yesterday! They met some interesting new characters and found out they could spend more time with them by studying ‘animal care’ as an option at High School! How exciting?🐇 🐢 🐠 🐶 @MertonBankP

Today we learnt all about propagation in Science! We created a wonderful poster of notes and then sketched the process and the steps required! We hope to revisit propagation again,in spring, to grow our own plants! 🪴 🌱 @MertonBankP

Balanced arguments have been a big hit with Y5 in their Writing sessions! We have loved debating with each other as well as respecting that eveyone has their own opinion and view point! @MertonBankP

We have kick started addition and subtraction this half term by tackling “customer quotes” in the workplace! Y5 loved being Estate agents, PC World employees and Car sales agents! @MertonBankP
