I am officially renaming all of my rubric categories in an effort to communicate with my students in a language they understand... 🤣🤣 #teacherlife

Hey @GoogleForEdu any chance we can add a sort by assignment feature to the “To Review” tab. Being able to look at one Classroom’s assignments is nice, but I usually grade by the assignment across multiple classes. The review feed gets a little crowded.

@MrsPowellTweets Mostly on my own. A few tools, I’ve found through the guidance of colleagues or the instructional coaches in my building. But teaching virtually, I’m relying heavily on activelylearn.com which I found and learned on my own and I have been introducing others to it.

@MrsSteinReads That’s a bummer! The tools you are using - did you find/adopt them on your own, or was there administrative guidance?

Hey teacher friends - how much PD did you receive for some of the online teaching tools you’re using this year?

@MonicaHesse knows how to break my heart every time. A powerful, moving, heart-wrenching story of a young Jewish woman searching for her brother in the aftermath of liberation. I ❤️ed it, but I may never forgive Josef’s storyline. #IReadYA #ReadingWhileQuarantined

For anyone interested, this program is recommended for readers age 13+. It might be a great way to get some summer reading done with audiobooks. Visit audiobooksync.com for more information.

Today marks the 105th anniversary of the start of the Armenian genocide. Last year, I read this amazing novel in verse that told a heartbreaking story of the time. Highly recommend!!

Started this series this week. I needed a good historical/mystery after the last two realistic fiction reads I chose, which both dealt with trauma.

Finished Paper Butterflies by @LisaHeathfield. This was a heavy read, and it took me a little longer to finish it because I couldn’t read it straight through. But the message that there is always hope, even in the darkest times was inspiring. #IReadYA #ReadingWhileQuarantined

@BookOutletcom It depends on the week and what I’m reading.... the first few weeks that we were out of school, I read a book a day, then things slowed down.

Remember when they said we need state tests & report cards because otherwise teachers & principals would slack off? Well, testing & state report cards are canceled and all I see are teachers & principals working harder than ever before. Let’s trust our professionals.

3 things I hope parents & the public will now appreciate a little bit more about educators: 1. How huge the responsibility it is. 2. How much planning and preparation goes into being an educator. 3. The magnitude of putting someone else’s child first & often before ones own.

School Closure Day 1: finished 2 started the 3rd. School Closure Day 2: discovered that it takes 30 steps to make a single lap around our downstairs. This means, I would have to do approximately 334 laps around the downstairs to keep up with a day of teaching....

On Friday, @FCMSMediaCenter and I launched a Holocaust themed Reading & Research unit. Ss engaged in a gallery “walk” overview of the Holocaust, a book tasting to select independent reading, and chose the photo of a victim/survivor to complete a biographical research paper.

My 8th period kiddos had some great conversations about figurative language and poetic devices as they previewed the first three stanzas “The Highwayman” today. I ❤️ this poem! And I am so proud of the work they are challenging themselves to do! #FCMSInspires
