Yesterday, I presented on Assessing Risks to African Identity and Family Cohesion in the context of Technology, AI and Digital Governance in Africa, at the 4th Inter-Parliamentary Conference on Family, Sovereignty and Values. I am grateful for the opportunity to rally colleague MPs from across the continent to rise to the task ahead of us: fighting to protect our African values and the innocence of our children. We have a responsibility, a duty, and a calling. I am grateful for the warm reception from my Colleagues and hope this fire lit in Accra will spread across the African continent. Today, I joined the Forestry Commission at the Armed Forces Senior High Technical School to mark this year’s Tree for Life Project as part of World Environment Day 2026. This year, 3 million trees will be planted across Ghana, with a focus on forest restoration, reclamation of degraded and illegal mining sites, and greening our communities and homes in line with the President’s Vision. I encourage every homeowner to plant and nurture trees within their frontage and compounds, with trees spaced appropriately to ensure healthy growth. Where frontages are not paved, lawns and green cover should be maintained to enhance the beauty of our communities and protect the environment. Yesterday’s reflections on June 4th reaffirmed that probity, accountability, and social justice remain enduring obligations in our national life. We remember Zakaria Samira, Musah Fuseini, Botwe Tackie, Abdallah Ayarek, Tajudeen Mohammed, Dompreh Emmanuel, Abass Ibrahim, and all who lost their lives through electoral violence; a canker eating into our system and unfortunately clouding our democracy. Their memory strengthens our resolve to uphold accountability, protect human life, and ensure that such tragedies are never repeated in our democratic process, and that the families of those who lost their lives see justice.

Great news from the Finance Minister. This is exactly what we want to hear as a country. I believe we should pay close attention to the nationalisation of our natural resources, especially gold. Yesterday, together with the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Members of the REGSEC, and MMDCEs, we attended the 40-day observation of the late Nana Akuoko Sarpong, Agogomanhene, a distinguished statesman who served Ghana as Secretary for Health, Secretary for the Interior, Secretary for Chieftaincy Affairs, and a Member of the Council of State. His legacy of dedicated public service, wise counsel, and commitment to national development will continue to inspire generations. Rest in power, Nana.
