Mentioning the unmentionable!
"Mornings are for Gms" is my first solo submission to the @6529Collections
"Mornings are for GMs" responds to the recent circulation (January 2026) of claims that the algorithm on X suppresses posts containing “GM”, a ubiquitous morning greeting within crypto culture.
The work stages the phrase not as text in a feed, but as a physical presence: illuminated, grounded, and placed outside the flow of algorithmic visibility.
“GM” has functioned as a low-stakes ritual of belonging. It is a daily, almost breath-like gesture that signals presence rather than content.
By isolating it from its expected platform and situating it within a quiet, coastal landscape, the work reflects on what happens when communal language becomes legible to systems designed to rank, filter, and optimize engagement.
The glowing letters persist regardless of reach, metrics, or suppression.
In this sense, "Mornings are for GMs" proposes the greeting as an act that precedes the algorithm:
A practice of showing up before visibility, before performance, before value extraction.
