Update: I briefly saw with my blind eye the top of my bedside table lamp when I woke up today. The image quickly disappeared (not sure how any of this recovery works) but it was an incredible moment of sight.

@MattWalshShow I disagree. There is worth in sharing the majesty of God's creation. They are reminders of our blessings.

@MushKat I’m not that familiar with Hollywood. I rarely go into L.A. at all. Mostly I stick to the San Gabriel Valley and the IE.

It would really suck if it burns up just a few years after surviving that brush fire. It’s a really great place to have a nice dinner and some good entertainment.

Out front talking to my neighbors, and they said they'd be gone for a couple of days. I told them I'd keep an eye on things... .......... ....and we laughed and laughed and laughed. IYKYK

@bitmaelstrom It's been a thought for a while for me since I'm no longer in a position to do anything for people BUT pray. I find it way more humbling and satisfying for my faith life and life in general. Faith and life are more intertwined now.

@MushKat Hmmm. Well, I found it thought-provoking and will think on it more.

I keep seeing the sentiment of "I'm sorry, all I can do is pray." It reminds me of something I heard once in a sermon: "Prayer should be your first line of defense, not your last-ditch effort."

A person is hungry, you know you don't have a sandwich, and you apologize, saying, "all I can do is pray," as if you and your sandwich was the better of the two things. It might have been to the hungry person, but prayer becomes the second-best thing. Your power over God's. It's the long game I'm talking about, not the temporary need. I still don't thing I'm explaining it right. If we put God first and the sandwich (if you have one) second, that's the best scenario. And I'm not saying you need to be praying *if* you should give them a sandwich, it's just the order of things I'm talking about.

@MushKat No, I think I got what you're saying. I just took at first as proscribing personal action, which didn't seem right.

@bitmaelstrom No, you're 100% correct, but that isn't the situation I'm talking about. I guess I'm not articulating correctly.

@MushKat So you're saying that someone who personally helps is excluding God? Like, if I give you the sandwich, I'm =not= going to pray for you? (I'm not saying you're wrong—I can't claim to insight here—but it's not how I've thought of it.)

@bitmaelstrom I understand that, but your supposition is rarely the scenario. It's always, "I wish I could do more, but all I can do is pray." Starts off on a *me* platform, ends up deferring to God because they tapped out.

@MushKat Hmmm. If I have a sandwich and you're starving, I could give you the sandwich and pray for you. If I don't have a sandwich, all I can do is pray. I think that's what the apology means.
