⚠️ Flood Warning remains in effect across most of Muskoka The Ministry of Natural Resources has issued an updated flood warning in effect until April 22, 2026. Water levels are rising, and conditions can change quickly. Areas of concern: • Moon River (including Bala reach) • Lake Muskoka Flooding can happen quickly with little warning. ⚠️ MNR Bulletin - Flood Warning ⚠️ The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has issued a Flood Warning bulletin for the Bracebridge Minden Parry Sound District in effect until Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Residents and visitors should expect lake water levels to continue to rise and river flows to remain high throughout the week of April 13-17 and into the weekend of April 18-19. MNR advises residents to exercise extreme caution concerning ice conditions. No ice is safe ice. Some lakes within the area are still covered in ice. Increased water levels and precipitation may erode the ice and create floating ice hazards that could damage waterfront infrastructure. With snowmelt and rain, water levels are rising quickly across Muskoka. Fast-moving water and flooded areas can be dangerous, even if they don’t look it. Stay safe around water: • Stay back from riverbanks and fast-moving water • Never walk, bike, or drive through water, depth and current can be deceiving • Watch for washed-out roads and soft shoulders near flooded areas 🚗 On the roads: If you see water covering a roadway, turn around, don’t drive through it. 💡 Private road access reminder The Muskoka Emergency Response Committee (MERC) is reminding residents that with spring weather and changing conditions, some private roads may experience flooding, washouts, sinkholes, or other damage that can make access difficult. If your private road is experiencing issues that could affect vehicle access, the time to act is now. Taking steps to address access concerns helps ensure the fastest and safest response from emergency services when needed. If you need to call 911, please let dispatch know about any access issues on your property so responders can plan accordingly. As part of your flood preparedness, residents on private roads are encouraged to monitor conditions and maintain safe access where possible. JC brings over 20 years of experience in paramedic services, including nearly two decades in leadership. He’s known for his collaborative style and forward-thinking approach, leading initiatives like Community Paramedicine, introduced a rapid response unit program and playing a key role in Simcoe County’s COVID-19 response.
