"Atheism is the understanding that self-contradictory entities cannot exist" The word "atheism" comes from the word Theism (God exists). The "A" in A-theism, meaning "not." If you're a little dog atheist you'll wrongly interpret that to mean "lacking" theism, rather than opposing it (which is the traditional and correct definition). But regardless, the word is about lacking or opposing theism. It has nothing to do with understanding contradictory entities can't exist. I don't know what the name for that is, but it's not atheism. I mean seriously, imagine going up to someone and saying, "hey do you understand that contradictory entities like married bachelors don't exist?" They say obviously. You then reply, "guess what you're an atheist." Doesn't quite work now does it. "There is no such thing as consciousness without a brain" This isn't even a contradiction, it's an inductive argument. We see a correlation between brains and consciousness and the materialist assumes based on their worldview that consciousness can't come from a non-brain (which is really weird because they believe in this magical thing called "emergence" so why can't it just "emerge" from other stuff too). But this definitely isn't a contradiction, there's nothing about consciousness that entails it comes from a brain. In fact, you might be surprised to know that many atheists are now agreeing that mind can't be reduced to matter. The arguments are so strong many are moving away from materialism and over to panpsychism, which is this crazy idea that reality itself is conscious... that's how untenable materialism is becoming. But there's definitely nothing contradictory about mind and brain existing independently from each other. "A being cannot be both all-powerful and all-knowing, since these properties contradict each other" There's no argument here, it's just asserted to be a contradiction. Perhaps Stefan just means God can't do other than what He knows, therefore God isn't all powerful? If that's the argument it's easily dealt with. Knowledge is reflective, not causal. Also God is outside of time and space (omnipresent), so He's not going through time looking ahead at all His future decisions and knowing He can't do otherwise. Frankly I can't believe Stefan said all this...
